Synopsis
Breaking Chains is a visual piece that views moral dilemmas that are presented by child labour
within corporate supply network, illustarting a reality that millions of children around the world
face: a force that necessitates children to manufacture goods for customers on a regular basis.
Through this we highlight how company leaders are bringing attention to the problem of child
labour while also urging Breaking Chains viewers to take responsibility for their purchases.
Corporations often receive criticism for exploiting cheap labour in developing countries. The
truth will be revealed about products that consumers often use and encourage you to question the
ethics of practices of corporations through this clip.

Commentary:
The purpose of this film is to bring awareness to others of child labour and realities that the
children experience in the daily lives. Through this, our goal is to advocate for change in regards
to regulations that are currently in place while also having greater enforcement to help assist in
improving the situation of child labour. By educating others of causes of child labour we are able
to aid in the process of empowering others to want to make a change. Ultimately the film is
trying to convey a message that has an ability to engage the audience emotionally and
intellectually creating elements that are compelling about child labour. To convey this message
across to our viewers, we chose clips that truly shows young kids being forced into labour. These
clips are tangible evidence of the problem making the issue more concrete and urgent for
viewers.
