Learners will be expected to consider specific issues of wealth and poverty, racial prejudice and discrimination. PHASES OBJECTIVES STARTER MAIN LESSON: INTRODUCTION The task will allow students to analyze a picture and share their reflective thoughts The students will be able to understand the concept of human rights and will be able to see it through the lens of contemporary time. The students will be able to reflect on the topic of social justice and identify the factors hindering social justice. STUDENT GUIDE Think about the picture given for one minute and share your ideas: WHAT IS BEING TAKEN AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE? What are your rights as children? What do understand about Human rights? You can look for the keywords below for your understanding: Keywords: Treatment, Privacy, Needs, speech, beliefs, Poverty Think about at least three factors responsible for social injustice TASK 2 The students will also be aquatinted with the concept of human rights through Islamic perspectives Look at the Quranic verses given on the board at discuss the key themes related to human rights and social justice. PHASES OBJECTIVES PLENARY AND REVIEW OF PREVIOUS LESSON (FESTIVALS AND COMMEMORATI ONS) The students will be able to reflect on the lesson and will identify the key learning points. STIMULUS TASK the task will allow students to think critically towards the worldly scenarios about social justice and to identify assumptions in lines of arguments. STUDENT GUIDE The students will be able to recall the Islamic festivals and their commemorations in Britain and other parts of the world developing a sense of acceptance and empathy towards other faith communities.
