EDEE100 Assessment 3: Portfolio Due Date: Monday 25 January 2021 Weight: 50% Must Complete: Yes Word Length: 2000 words (equivalent) This assessment relates to: Learning Outcomes 1 - 4 Portfolio Assessment The purpose of this assignment is for you to document your growing understanding of language use in three domains: personal/community, academic and professional. For this assessment, you will complete weekly portfolio tasks, and reflect on your experience of these tasks and on what you have learned as a result. This final assessment brings together your responses to the weekly tasks in one portfolio. The assessment has three parts: Part 1: Weekly portfolio tasks Each topic in this unit turns your attention to the way people use language in different cultural and social contexts. For each topic: Complete the weekly portfolio task. If relevant to the task, you can illustrate it with an image e.g. photograph, diagram, drawing. Write a short, one-paragraph reflection of your experience undertaking the portfolio task and what you learned. Post your paragraph to the 'Portfolio task forum' for each topic as directed and comment on the posts of fellow students. Part 2: Preparing a portfolio At the end of the trimester, combine your completed weekly portfolio tasks into a professionally presented multimodal portfolio. Part 3: Essay (1000 words) Write an essay in response to this question: How does language and image use vary in personal/community, academic and professional domains? In your essay, support your ideas with references to readings and give specific examples from your portfolio tasks to illustrate your points.
