Country Group 29 George Ji Q1 : My name is George, I currently live in Santa Cruz. I am a bio major in UCSC. Q2 : People in your field could during education about how the water cycle affects the ecosystem and its environment. More detaily in one case it can be how building of dams change their migration path and how that will affect natural habitat, human economy and food supply. Or how soil type and climate zone change what kind of vegetation in the region Q3 : Unfind another group member so I will answer group 18 David Ordonez’s respond ○ Painting, photography, and other visual arts may be used by artists to depict and highlight the value of importance of water as well as the dangers it confronts. Artists may inspire action to protect and conserve water resources through their work. I agree, artists can help the general public understand the importance of water conservation by using easy understanding drawing or art. Make science more accessible for more people of all ages. Max O’s Response: Bio majors can definitely have an impact on our relationship with the water cycle. I agree that studying factors such as soil type and climate zone change could help us have a better understanding of our water usage and making sure we stay sustainable. Max Ominsky Q1: My name is Max Ominsky, I live at UCSC, and I am a TIM (Technology Information Management) major. Q2: People in my field may contribute to our relationship with the water cycle through tech systems. For example, an information system may be used to track water usage and forecast rainfall. These systems can help us get estimates so our water usage is adequate. Q3: Brianna Gonzalez Response: You mentioned how people in your field would make some sort of information system that could track water and this reminded me of the similar systems we have in the Santa Cruz Mountains. That’s a really interesting view you took regarding your Technology Information Management major. Brianna Gonzalez Q1: My name is Brianna Gonzalez, I’m currently living in Santa Cruz and I’m a declared Cognitive Science major. Q2: People in my field would try to understand the connection between how people think about the water cycle and how it relates to the actual actions made. This would help us understand how we can get people to be more active in maintaining a healthy water cycle. Q3: Manjima Shrestha Response: It is interesting to see how people’s psychology can be studied to understand what people think and the actual actions they take. It can be seen that people talk about water conservation but do very little to actually make a difference. Manjima Shrestha Q1: My name is Manjima Shrestha. I currently live in Santa Cruz and I am a Business Management Economics major. Q2: The people in my field help to study the demand and supply of water resources, and help utlilize the water resources economically. People in my field can study the risks associated with water scarcity to come up with business strategies to eliminate those risks. Andy Chen Q1: My name is Andy Chen. I live in Santa Cruz and am a proposed Psychology major. Q2: People in my field of study will utilize management and data regarding the water cycle. This may include statistical reasoning and experiments revolving around water infrastructure. Q3: Brianna Gonzalez Response: I agree that proper communication is needed in a work environment. With the assistance of more than one person’s opinion will bring a lot to the table. After all, the water cycle is studied and researched by many people. Week 7 Assignment #2. George Ji Q1: The weather of Italy can be broken into 4 different parts. Northern Italy has an Alpine climate, which has low temperatures and moist summers with higher precipitation. Southern Italy is in the classical temperate Mediterranean climate region, with mild temperatures, lower precipitation and moist winter. Peninsular climates that only exist in the peculiar part of the central part of the peninsula, moist in spring and autumn, have seasonality. Po valley climate low temperatures in the winter, high in the summer, moist in the spring and autumn. Q2: The northern part of Italy majorly relies on the developed industry companies and the southern region is more on the tourism of Mediterranean weather. The relative wealth of Italy is very high, according to reacher “the level of wealth concentration observed in Italy appears to be in line with other European countries such as France, Spain, and Germany, the researchers found. However, with respect to its time evolution, the wealth concentration is closer to that found in the United States” (Acciari et al,. 2021). But there are huge differences between southern and northern average income. Northern Italy has a higher income than the southern. Max Ominsky Q4: Tourism, one of Italy’s main sources of income, actually does cause some water challenges for the country. Many of the decorative fountains and structures that people come to visit Italy to see use up large quantities of water. These fountains need to be running in order to get visitors, but Italy has recently cut down on their usage by turning off some of these fountains. Manjima Shrestha Q3. a). A prominent water resource challenge in Italy associated with water resource allocation or water infrastructure is water scarcity and the lack of proper water infrastructure. Some areas in Italy face drought whereas, some parts have abundant water resources. Q3. b). A prominent water resource challenge in Italy associated with climate change is the growing frequency and intensity of droughts. Due to climate change, the parts of Italy that are already dry is getting drier and hence, leading to water scarcity. Q3. b). A prominent water resource challenge in Italy associated with water quality is the contamination caused by the pesticides and other chemicals disposed by the agricultural activities into water sources. This contamination can seriously affect the water quality and cause harm to the health of the people. Q5. The government of Italy launched the “Green Deal for Agriculture” program to motivate the people in agriculture to use organic farming and reduce the use and disposal of chemicals. This has been implemented to improve the water quality since as discussed in question 3.b) the water quality was deteriorated due to contamination from agriculture. Cited Sources: Acciari, etal.
