- At the start of genesis, God created the world in six days and rests on the seventh. - God creates the first man and places him in a beautiful garden called the garden of eden. - The garden has a tree called the tree of life with fruits that provide eternal life. - God looks at all the animals for a suitable help mate for the man but he can't find any. - He puts the man in a deep slumber and creates a a woman from his side to be his help-mate. - He calls the mad Adam and the woman Eve. - There is one tree in the garden with fruit they may not eat, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. - The serpent temps Eve to eat from the tree. - Adam also eats from the tree. - Because of this, the serpent is cursed by God to crawl on its belly, the woman must undergo pains in child-bearing, the man will rule over the woman, the man will have to hunt for food, and the ground will bring forth thorns. - They are kicked out of the garden of eden. - They have to sons named cain and able. God showed favour to Able but not Cain. - In his jealousy, Cain kills Able. - Because of this, Cain is cursed to roam the earth. God puts a mark on Cain so people know not to kill him. - The human population grows. - The world falls into violence and other such sin. - God regrets creating man. He chooses on man named Noah and his family to build an ark so he can flood the earth and kill the other sinful men. - Noah builds the ark and gathers two of each animals to board so they may repopulate the earth. - God floods the whole earth and kills everyone. - When the water recedes, Noah sends out a dove to gather an olive branch to show it was safe to disembark. - God makes the rainbow a sign of this promise that he will never flood the earth again. - Several generations later, God Choses one man Abram and his wife Sarai to be the forefather and foremother of a great nation that will bless all the nations of the world. - God commands that all men in this nation must be circumsised.
