Tech Cool® 35630 RP HIGH PERFORMANCE SYNTHETIC METALWORKING FLUID, OUTSTANDING SYSTEM LIFE, SUPERIOR CLEANLINESS, EXCELLENT LUBRICITY, LOW RESIDUAL FILM 1 Description Tech Cool® 35630 RP is an oil-rejecting synthetic designed for moderate machining of aluminium and steel alloys. One of the unique advantages of this product is the detergency and lack of residue formed on parts even at elevated concentrations. Tech Cool® 35630 RP was developed with environmental concerns in mind and to maintain fluid integrity for the longest possible sump life. It is free of boron and formaldehyde donors. Tech Cool® 35630 RP is recommended for machining and grinding of ferrous and aluminium alloys. It is also suitable for honing of cast iron. 2 Physical and Chemical Properties Property Typical Value Test Method Form Liquid - Colour Clear yellowish - Density at 20°C 1.06 g/cm³ DIN 51757 pH-value (5% in water) 8.4 DIN 51369 Chipping test at 5 % Grade 0 DIN 51360/2 3 Application Tech Cool® 35630 RP can be mixed directly with water and is suitable for tapping, reaming, sawing, turning, ID and OD grinding or similar operations. Depending on the operation, Tech Cool® 35630 RP can be diluted from 40:1 to 10:1. Slowly and thoroughly mix Tech Cool® 35630 RP in tap water by stirring or using a mixer. Add the solution to the thoroughly precleaned machine avoiding intermediate storage of the mixed solution. For detailed information on a system cleaner, please contact your local Chemetall representative. For the filling operation, we recommend a Dosatron-metering station. A Dosatron-pump doesn’t guarantee an equal emulsion concentration, however, after a certain runtime, the average value will be stable. The advantage of this pump is that it works independent of line pressure. Even at variable water pressure the correct quantity of concentrate is automatically added to the water. 5 Process Control During processing we recommend regular refilling of the emulsion because the level of the recirculated solution is constantly being reduced due to evaporation and carryover. The refilling should be carried out frequently. Operating the machining center at the low limit should be avoided as it could lead to an increase in the salinity of the solution. . Technical Data Sheet Tech Cool® 35630 RP 2 of 4 Version 6, December 2020 6 Process Monitoring We recommend a process control based on the following parameters which should be regularly monitored depending on the workload – at least weekly. In case of deviation corrective measures should be taken: Parameter Interval Set point Perceptible deviations Daily - pH-value Regularly 8.4 +/- 0.2 Concentration Regularly 3 - 10 % Nitrite-value Regularly < 20 mg/l Total hardness If required 5 – 40°dH Contamination If required < 10³ KBE/ml Adjustment Odour: check contamination; Oil: skim and avoid oil entry Action: Determine reason for pH-value decrease and take corrective action Refill the plant with very weak or very high concentrated solution Exceeding up to 80 mg/l no measures necessary - product inhibits against nitrosamine formation Increase hardness or rather refill with demineralised water Action: Addition of suitable biocide, remove contamination from plant, aerate The measurement of concentration is carried out via a handheld refractometer as follows: Apply some drops of the used solution to the refractometer and measure the value (% Brix). Multiply this value with the product-specific factor (Rf). The refractometer factor for Tech Cool® 35630 RP is Rf = 1.9 Tech Cool® 35630 RP (weight %) = measured value (% Brix) x 1.9 The factor for titration of Tech Cool® 35630 RP is 1,1 ml 0,1 n HCl/% (till pH 6,0) Tech Cool® 35630 RP (weight %) = amount hydrochloric acid (ml) x 1,1 7 Process Maintenance Depending on the processed materials, machining operations, available filter technologies and basic conditions, the following maintenance measures may be required in order to achieve long emulsion lifetimes. This includes among others the use of: • • • • Defoamers (recommendation by technical service) to hinder the production of foam and to keep the machinery operational Hardeners (recommendation by technical service) to adjust the total hardness Biocides to counteract possible contamination Oil skimmers and oil fleece to remove drag-in-oil Technical Data Sheet Tech Cool® 35630 RP 3 of 4 Version 6, December 2020 8 Safety Guidance Before operating the process described it is important that this complete document, together with any relevant Safety Data sheets, are read and understood.
