FIELD STUDY 2
(LEARNING EPISODE 1: THE TEACHER WE REMEMBER)

ANALYZE
1. From the PPSTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards and the TEDx
videos that you viewed, what competencies does a great teacher possess?
 Based on the video I had watched; the following are the competencies that a
great teacher should possess:
- A great Teacher eat apples.
- A great Teacher is chill.
- A great Teacher thinks like a kid but acts like an adult.
- A great teacher isn't a teacher.
- A great teacher understands that students have a life outside of school.
- A great teacher sings.
2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?
 No, I think if we are always going to consider professional competencies in
teaching our students, we are just like teaching them like a robot. We do things
according to plan, according to the right methods or approaches and the real
essence of teaching will be gone. What I do believe more is that, teachers should
teach his/her students with a heart. An attitude or personality that is willing to
listen to his/her students in every situation they are in and who knows how to
understand them when anyone else can't.
3. A teacher to be great, is it enough to possess the professional competencies to plan
a lesson, execute a lesson plan, manage a class, assess learning, compute and report
grades? Explain your answer.
 No. If the teacher will always think about professionalism, it will be more likely
that he/she is just teaching like a robot. The teacher should also come out on
his/her own self and be second parents to his students. Teachers should also act

like their second parents willing to listen, understand and be one of them so that
as a teacher, he/she knows exactly what his/her students are likely to be.
4. For a teacher to be great, which is more important – personal qualities or
professional competencies?
 From the video itself, personal qualities are better than professional
competencies however, on my personal point, I will also choose personal
qualities over professional competencies because as a student view, I want a
teacher who is more understanding, more affectionate, the one who does not
only good in teaching a subject but a teacher who shows us and helps us to
understand the lesson and how we can apply it to our own real-life experiences.
A teacher that shows empathy towards his/her students.
5. Who are the teachers that we remember most?
 The teacher that we can't forget and will always be remembered are those
teachers who really see our worth. Not because we are one of the best students
but because they believe in us, they believe in our strength, they believe that we
can still do things and surpass things in the future. They are the teachers who
are there when we needed a person who will listen to us and understand us
when everyone else doesn't.

REFLECT
Which personal traits I possess? Not possess? Where do I need improvement in?
 The personal trait I possess is Empathy towards my students. And the personal
traits that I do not possess are being immature and unmotivated. I need
improvement in the things that are too risky and demand too much pressure.
Which professional competencies I am strongly capable of demonstrating?
Downloaded by Royeth Banayo (royethbanayo20@gmail.com)

 Activities that really interest me such as organizing different school programs and
lectures and other school activities.
In which competencies do I need to develop more?
 Making public speaking and doing some volunteering.
Who are the teachers we remember the most?
 -They are the one who inspires us, motivates us to be great and see our worth
even in our own we failed to see it.

WORK ON MY ARTIFACTS
I have learned and realized that to be a great teacher does not mean
you are a very competent teacher. A kind of teacher that all knowledge of every
subject, a teacher who knows exactly what kind of teacher pedagogy or teacher
methodology to use in every lesson that he or she is going to teach in short, a teacher
with high professional competencies but rather our students need a teacher who is

kind, generous, willing to listen, approachable and a teacher who teaches with a heart
for his or her students. A teacher can be a friend at the same time by her/his students
in times of need. A teacher that has good personal qualities.
In today's generation, our students are becoming more independent and
sometimes they act and think as if they don't need any help coming from adults but we
should always keep in mind that they are still learning and guiding them is much more
important. Guide them and listen to them as they achieve their dreams.

Yes ✓ No ___. If yes, complete the sentence below.
 I realized that doing action research as early as possible is important because it
will help me to prepare for my future.
 WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS
OBSERVE
From what teaching principles of theories can this problem be anchored?
 I have observed and noticed that action research begins with a problem or a
problematic situation.
Write an example of a problematic situation that you have observed and noticed. I
observed that some students in high school especially grade 7 students are not that
good in reading in English subject.
REFLECT
What have I realized?
 I realized that some students are not that good in reading comprehension.
Students who are already in high school should at least already understand what
they are reading but it is disappointing to know that even simple reading phrases
are very hard for them.
What do I hope to achieve?
 I hope that all students before going to high school should already know how to
read in English.
PLAN
What strategies, activities, innovations can I employ to improve the situation or solve
the problem?
 As future research I can plan for an appropriate intervention like there should be
a reading practice and comprehension program for every grade level to check
whether the student knows how to read and at the same time comprehend. Or
perhaps teachers could have a pair or study buddy so that each and every one

difficulty comprehending text. When there is little to no emphasis on comprehension, on
exploring the meaning behind the words, students are not actually reading but merely
making the appropriate sounds. In this regard, this action research has made it possible
to improve the reading comprehension of the students through a buddy system.
In this era, students tend to learn more through collaboration, and one great
point of securing that they learn to assign them to study with their study buddy. Thus,
the buddy system is a great avenue to learn especially in terms of reading
comprehension. Through this kind of system, other students will check his/her buddy
for his/her reading performance and series of questions will be asked to assess if the
other student understand what he/she learned. This will both benefit the students.

As a future teacher, is conducting an Action Research worth doing?
 Yes, Action Research is worth doing.
Why?
 Because it will not only enhance our ideas and improve our pedagogy but it will
help us to take actions of what we may add or improve in our teaching as we
begin to discover things that are hard for our learners. Likewise, it will empower
our decision making as we make and take actions. It will also help improve
school development and improve our educational practices.
How can AR be useful for every classroom teacher?
 Action Research is useful in classroom in the way of, it will generate to improve
teaching pedagogy, as the plans are created, and implemented. In addition, it
will develop new knowledge directly related to classroom. As teachers make
developments, learners become active and their learning enhances.

opportunities to learn. While some students may be able to attend school, others may not or may
arrive with an empty stomach, soiled clothes, old bags, and school supplies.
2. COMPREHENSION - Students who lack proper comprehension skills will be unable to comprehend
what they read and will be unable to comprehend important lessons.
3. BULLYING - This is most common among students. They are bullied most likely due to their mental
abilities, social status, gender, age, and other factors.
4. INTEREST - One of the many issues that students face in school or in the classroom is a lack of
interest. They do not find the lesson enjoyable or fun. This is why they are easily distracted and their
attention is diverted to something else. This results in a lack of concentration and the inability to study
their lessons.

solution to the problem? I noticed that these problems are the main problems of some
students and teachers. Explain: Yes, when you have a number of solutions that you feel
could achieve your objective effectively you have to evaluate them. All information
relevant to the problem must be identified, collected and recorded in a meaningful way.

Scenario A:
Miss Fely is a grade four teacher in a typical elementary school. She has forty learners in her
class. One half of them cannot classify animals into vertebrates and invertebrates. She has been
repeating the same science lesson for two weeks, yet no progress was observed. This situation
has been bothering Miss Fely.

Can you identify, Miss Fely’s problem? Miss Fely’s problem is that some of the students can’t classify
animals into vertebrates and invertebrates.

Can you find a solution to solve the problem Yes, Give your two suggestions.
a. Miss Fely’s can show some of pictures that can identify vertebrates and invertebrates’
animals.
b. Miss Fely, should let the students watch a video about vertebrates and invertebrates,
always ask the students what is the difference of the two. Until they really understand the
differences between the two.

a. One of the problems will be, mostly of the students are not the attentive and
most probably class attendees are low.
b. The second thing is that, bullies will prevail and because of these students will
not go or attend their class and learning of the students will be affected.

Can you propose a solution to solve one of the problems that you have identified?
Possible solution to this is to have a one-on-one talk with the parent or to the
guardian. Ask how is the student behave in their home, how does he/she find going
and attending school and also ask if there are some bullies that affect their learning
and behavior. Discuss to them the importance of attending class and how learning and
education is important.
REFLECT

Improving Students’ English Spelling Ability Through Concentration Game and Tell a Story
Game
Author/s: Dwi Astuti Wahyu Nurhayat
Abstract
The low spelling ability of kindergarten students in Al-Irsyad Madiun is caused by (1) the
uninteresting activities in learning English; (2) the students' difficulties in spelling English words;
(3) the students' low motivation in learning are the main problems in this research. The nature
of spelling, games in language, difficulty in teaching English as well as the development and
motivation for the young learners are what includes in a theoretical framework. Several
procedures are also followed such as identifying the problem, planning, implementing, and
observing the action, and reflecting on the result of the research. The teacher is the one who
acts as the researcher. In data collection, the researcher uses the observational technique
through a test. Field notes, teacher's diaries recordings of some student work, and research
questions are used in analyzing the data. There is also an improvement based on the pre-test
and post-test conducted. Using media with interesting tasks and activities through a game has
an increased positive effect on students’ motivation in learning English spelling ability.
IV.
V.
Identify the Problem in the Study
- low spelling ability of kindergarten students that is caused by uninteresting activities in learning
English
- the student’s low motivation in learning, and
- English is still considered informal and it is not included in the curriculum and teachers are not
that competent enough in teaching the English subject.
Identify the Action Taken in the Study
Researchers follow different procedures in taking action in the study this includes the following:
1. Identifying initial idea
2. Reconnaissance
3. Constructing the general planning.
4. Action
5. Monitoring
6. Reconnaissance
The Researcher also administered pre-test, regular tests after some teaching-learning processes,
and post-test. In finding the qualitative data, the researcher did direct observation in the
classroom, interviewed the teachers, gave interviews to the students regarding their activities
studying their English, and held meetings with colleagues to find out the students’ improvement.
The researcher used a tape recorder, photograph, interview, portfolios, and fieldnotes.

FIELD STUDY 2
(LEARNING EPISODE 5: PREPARING THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: AN OVERVIEW)
PARTICIPATE AND ASSIST
What will you do to assist your mentor in setting up a conducive learning environment
in the following conditions:
1. Bulletin Board Display: Bulletin board should interactive, have clear, concise directions
that are easy for the students to read and understand. Because interactive bulletin
boards are bulletin boards that allow students to participate in an activity that reinforces
the class’s objectives. Bulletin boards can also be electronic, which can easily be set up
for any subject area.
2. Small Group Discussion: Should have clearly defined the rules and routines for
transitions between activities and classes. And gives all members of the group a chance
to speak their opinions, to agree or disagree with others, and to have their thoughts
heard. And will group them by equally fair and balanced according to their skills and
knowledge.
3. Checking class attendance in a virtual classroom (i.e. google meet or zoom): in the
part of the attendance the teachers called the name of the students and ask some
question that serve as participation in class. Or checking class attendance thru the
form. When students click the link, all they have to do is find their name and click the
circle next to it.
NOTICE
Learning Environment 1:

What have you noticed of the display in the class bulletin board? What message or theme
does it convey?
 Most of the theme displayed is all about the reminders to the teachers and students. And
celebrations of the month. Some of the bulletin boards I see have attractive pictures and
colors.

What makes it attractive to the learners?
 There is a board design that reflects the likes/interests of the audience. Because some of
the bulletin board is all about the activities in the school and achievements of the
students.

Does it help in the learning process? YES How?
 Because by posting the information details about the school the learners get information
and have awareness of the activity happens in the school. And through the bulletin board,
students are encouraged to perform well in their studies.

If the teacher is using a distance delivery of learning through the modules, where is most
likely the learning space of the students?
 The learning space of the students when they have distance learning through modules is
they learn at their house or it also called a home-study. Since the advent of online and
modular learning, students’ primary learning environment has been their homes, where
they were taught by their parents. Teachers do, however, occasionally visit pupils at home
to inspect and evaluate their progress

Can you describe?
 The teacher prints module that have lesson, activities and assignments and it have
answer key at the back of the modules that serve as guide to the learners. The learners’
study at their own chair and table and have comfortable place to focus on their studies.

How can you as a teacher help to make such environment conducive for learning?
 If I ever become a teacher, I will make every effort to create a learning environment in
my classroom. I will keep my classroom clean, well-lit, and well-ventilated. I’ll also ensure
that my classroom furniture is correctly organized in my thoughts and heart, and I’ll strive
to be a loving teacher. Additionally, I will ensure that facilities and equipment are
presentable because this aids students’ learning processes. Every classroom should be
arranged in such a way that it motivates pupils to learn while simultaneously providing a
sense of security.
ANALYZE
The examples above, describe two contrasting situations. The first shows that the
learners are in the same room or space while in the second, the learners maybe in
different learning spaces like homes, study hubs or in extreme cases parks or under the
trees.
As a teacher, in which of the two situations would you prefer to manage for
learning? Choose between Learning Environment 1 or Learning Environment 2.
Explain your choice: Why? As a future teacher, I would prepare to manage Learning
Environment 1 which is a face-to-face class because it is easy to approach them
physically. Being with the students it can be easy to interact with them and know if the
learners have developed to their knowledge and skills because they meet in physically,
they can also explain to the learners the instructions and guide them if they don’t
understand some lessons.

OBSERVE
What probable problem may result from the two situations of the learning environment?
 The likely difficulty, in my opinion, is that if children get infected with the
Covid19 virus and they will be at risk if they are in a school setting or in a faceto-face lesson. While they are prone to becoming bored and finding their
lessons tough when they are learning at home.
REFLECT
What solutions can I think of solve the problem?
 I believe that one way to fix the problem is to become more prayerful in order
to overcome all of the obstacles we are currently encountering and to focus on
the things we will do, particularly when we will learn from them. We should also
be more patient with our students and always tell them that if they want to
learn, they must do their best.

WORK ON MY ARTIFACTS
“My Conducive Learning Environment”
By: Brielle Elise Cruz
A conducive environment is described as one that provides beneficial conditions or
surroundings. One would create an environment conducive to learning from the inside out.
Students should be motivated both inside and outside. That is, the student should have an
excellent foundation upon which to build their education. The student, particularly the online
learner, must develop the ability to manage the environment in which they complete
classwork, homework, and study/reading time. Additionally, the student must develop the
ability to absorb or disregard his or her immediate environment.
Students generally require a well-lit, preferably natural lighting, and ventilated environment
that is air conditioned or heated and maintains a comfortable temperature. To complete the
required coursework, a student will require the standard supplies. While these resources
and/or equipment are beneficial, the place or setting in which one studies, completes class
work, and completes homework is equally important. Students have a variety of personal and
academic requirements. The environment that a student chooses for educational reasons
varies from person to person. Each student has a unique space that is beneficial to his or her
education.
The student's surroundings should be clean and comfortable, devoid of offensive odors and/or
overpowering scents or loud noises, including friends and relatives. The student's environment
resembles a forested area. Base on my idea, a suitable learning environment can exist virtually
everywhere inside or outside of the primarily classroom environment. This environment should
be soothing and comfortable, but not so much so that it tempts one to sleep or nap; if a
student is in a classroom setting, he or she will be unable to snooze.
Instructors or professor are supposed to create an environment that is conducive to learning
and to their ability to teach. A learning environment that possesses the transforming potential
of an effective instructor is the type of environment that one craves and, more importantly,
requires. This type of instructor is passionate about the subject and enjoys their work, which
he or she is able to express to the pupils with ease.

1. What do you think brought the changes in the face-to-face learning environment
now?
 For me the changes in face-to-face learning environment now are the
communication between the teacher and leaners and the strategies on how
to teach them in distance learning and how to know that students will still
learn in distance learning.
2. From the changes that you identified, choose one that you can do. How will you
do it?
 I will choose the changes above the strategies on how to teach in distance
learning and know that students still learn in distance learning. I know it is
hard and very challenging to distance learning without enough time and

What common problem have I noticed in a face-to-face learning environment?
 The most common problem I’ve observed in a face-to-face learning setting
are big class sizes with varied learners, ability gaps between students, and a
lack of funding for classroom resources and supplies. These were particularly
clear in my observations of schools. If I were to boil this issue down to a
single question, it would be, “How did schools and teachers deal with high
class sizes with varied learners.
Can I translate this problem into a question?
 Can do classroom manage without help of teacher?
REFLECT
How would I solve the problem?
 As a future teacher, I should first understand the problem and how it occurs.
I should also consider the impact of these problems on the teaching and
learning process. Following that, I may formulate a strategy or consider
various solutions to the situation. These would assist me in honing my
teaching abilities and acquiring additional experiences that I could apply to
the improvement of myself and my capacity as a teacher to convey
knowledge to students.
Will it improve my teaching? How?
 Yes, it will be improving my teaching If I have a good proper classroom
management and students follow to me.
PLAN
What will I do to solve the problem? Describe briefly how you will do it.
 To resolve the issues outlined above, I should follow my plan: To manage
large class numbers with various learners, I should choose activities that do
not create confusion and disorganization in the classroom. I would employ a

 When rules and procedures are established and discussed during the first
days of school (and reinforced again during the first three weeks), the
class runs more smoothly and behavior problems are minimized. So, making
scheduling is important because in that way you can achieve your goals and
priorities in the time you have available. And the aim is to create a positive
and conducive atmosphere for learning, and to do so classroom
routines/management is essential.

NOTICE
How did the students react to the activities/various elements to arouse their interest?
 The students were enthusiastic about the activities that were used in the lesson.
They actively participate in and contribute to class discussions and activities, which
results in a lively and healthy implementation of the activities in question.
Were the students focused when you were stating the learning objectives at the
beginning of the lesson?
 When the learning objectives were read to the students at the start of the lesson,
they were focused.
How did the new learnings relate with what they really know?
 Through an assessment that aligned with the objectives. The new learning will be
tested if they got the correct answer in the assessment. In addition to
complementing and expanding on their existing knowledge, the new knowledge they
have gained is a significant aid in their learning development. It includes real-life
scenarios of some contemporary families in order for them to better understand
their own situations and apply the moral lesson of the story to their own lives.

Did you notice some students who needed assistance? What did you do?
 Yes. In my observations, some students required assistance, particularly with their
internet connections and technical issues with their devices, such as one student
who was experiencing audio difficulties. As a result, I allowed them to type their
responses in the comment box so that they could respond even if their audio was
not working properly.
•
Did the students find difficulty in applying the theories/ concepts learned to real
life?
- Because some of the students could relate to the story and understand that true
happiness is a choice given the circumstances of life, the students found it simple to
apply the theories and concepts that they had learned from it.
How did your students react to your feedback?
 Their motivation and happiness increase when they receive positive feedback or a
compliment from their teacher. In addition, I've noticed that they pay attention to
the feedback I provide.
What pieces of evidence can prove that the students had retention of learning?
 When my students can be able to apply the lesson to the real-life scenario and if
they answered their assignment correctly. Also, if they have shared what they have
learned with their parent or friend.

 NOTICE
1. How did you prepare for this activity?
 The first thing I did was I identified the learning objectives, plan the specific
learning activities, plan to assess student understanding, create a realistic
timeline, plan for a lesson closure. I prepare for this activity by making sure that
both my mind and body are healthy in a productive way as well as and plan
ahead of time when it comes to what I am going to do in helping the resource
instructor make the students learning more meaningful.
2. Describe how you or the teacher utilized the resources/instructional materials.
Narrate your experience as you participated and assisted.
 When we say instructional materials those are the things used by a teacher to
simplify their teaching. My resource teacher and I included both visual and
audio-visual aids and could either be concrete or non-concrete. These
instructional materials bring life to learning by stimulating students learn.
encourage the learners to watch the video in order for them to see the beauty of
my lesson, and give them a formative assessment that improvised the knowledge
that they have in their minds.

3. What were your feelings and thoughts while you were assisting with the use of the
resources/materials?
 I felt happy and satisfied knowing that I am making a progress in making
resources/materials. I know those learning will be a big help for me as an
effective
educator in the near future.
4. Describe the students responded and participated.
 The students responded and participated in an active way and I am in pure bliss
since all of them use participation to not only answer questions but to seek help
or ask for clarification.
 ANALYZE
What worked well during the activity using the resources/materials?
 Everything went well, actually. The resource/materials helped the on-going class
goes smoothly. Materials and resources helped the topic to become easy to
understand.
What part can be improved?
 I think that the only part that needs to be improved is by adding more
information about the lesson in my PowerPoint presentation. As what the wise
man once said, the more they learn, the more they academically earn and more
self-confidence they will have.
What would you have done differently? What would I change? What will make it better

How does this connect with what you know about selecting and using instructional
materials?
 Instructional materials are essential since they help the teacher and learners
avoid overemphasis on recitation and rote learning that can easily dominate a
lesson. Resource materials allow learners to have practical experiences which
help them to develop skills and concepts and to work in a variety of ways.

REFLECT
1. How ready am I in selecting and developing resources/instructional materials in the
teaching learning process?
 I think that I am almost ready for the reason that our previous subjects in this
field already bestowed upon us the skill set to know the four primary categories
of criteria that teachers said they use when selecting instructional materials,
these are: accuracy and visual appeal, alignment to standards and depth of
knowledge, ease of use and support, and engagement and ability to meet
student needs.
2. What do I still need to learn to select and develop resources/instructional materials in
teaching effectively?
 I believe that I should learn all of these when it comes to selecting Instructional
materials: resources should be appropriate for the age, emotional and social
development, and ability level of the students for whom the materials are
selected. Moreover, instructional materials need to be diverse with respect to
levels of difficulty, reader appeal, and should present a variety of points of view.
It should also have accuracy and visual appeal, alignment to standards and
depth of knowledge, ease of use and support, and engagement and ability to
meet student needs.
3. What can I do to learn more about and practice the use of resources and
instructional materials?
 Accumulate a collection of high interest reading materials and spend time at the
library to create and collect a file for interesting articles. I can learn more
through reading and surfing the internet about the practices when it comes to
the use of resources and instructional materials. I will also do my best to create
clear academic purpose, make positive connections with learners' knowledge,

How does this connect with what you know about selecting and using apps?
 Through the help of given applications above, the connection between teacher
and students become easy in just few clicks. By using these apps, it helps my
teaching-learning process more effective, efficient and equally important, more
fun and satisfying for both teacher and the students.

NOTICE
1. Describe how you or the teacher utilized the apps. Narrate your experience as you
participated and assisted.
 My resource teacher and I utilized the applications by means of using them as a
way of delivering lessons. That makes the teaching and learning easier in these
trying times. Basically, I read the app's rules and regulations, as well as the
feedback and reviews of thousands of individuals who have already used and
downloaded them. As I experienced with a classmate, these collaboration
friendly platforms have changed the way we communicate, cooperate, and store
information online. Teachers and students can benefit from paperless sharing,
evaluation, and digital collaboration in the classroom using Google Classroom, an
education-friendly platform.

ANALYZE
What worked well during the activity using the apps?
 The applications that worked well are the Google meet because it is convenient
to use and doesn’t eat too much data/internet. All of the PowerPoint, documents,

great quality of the audio on the video conference meeting. We sent papers; we

What part can be improved?
 I think the thing that can be improved is the security and safety of the students
while in the class. Hackers should never be in there. And the quality of the
internet, which was needed for many programs to work, was also a big problem.
What would you have done differently? What would I change? What will make it better
next time?
 It's important to know that students already have a lot of interest in and use of
technology. This opens a whole new world of opportunities for schools and
teachers to use some types of technology in the classroom to help them teach
and learn better. It makes people more excited. Learning about a subject
becomes more interesting when technology is used to help students learn about
it. In terms of teaching the same things in new ways, technology has a lot of
ways to make learning more fun and interesting. For example, using gamification
to teach, taking students on virtual field trips, and using other online learning
tools can help students be more active in the learning process, which is hard to
do in a traditional lecture setting.
How does this connect with what you know about selecting and using apps?
 Using technology of application, the teacher is easy to connect with the students,
educators who use instructional strategies allow students to make meaningful
connections between concepts learned in class and real-life situations.

REFLECT
1. How ready am I in organizing and using apps in the teaching-learning process?
 When it comes to organizing and using apps in teaching-learning process, I must
say that I am confident in doing it, because I have been using those apps for
years, and due to having an access with that every day, I have had enough
experience in learning to use it.
2. What do I still need to learn in order to use apps in teaching effectively?
 I think it would be better if the learning process was changed in a more
significant way. When teaching with apps in the classroom, it can be hard to
figure out how to make the experience relevant to the rest of the class and how

to work it into other lessons. It's important for students to see how the broader
lesson and the specific app activities are linked.
3. What can I do to learn more about and practice the use of educational apps?
 Exploring continuously because applications develop over time. I think that the
best way for me to learn more about how to use educational apps is to do more
research on what the best ways are. People say that we should always be
learning and getting better. People who teach should also know and do this. Only
a few of the tips we get from other platforms are enough to get us to start
teaching with apps. Therefore it's so important to look up best practices and tips
from other teachers on our own.

communicate themselves in order for the whole class to function well. I hope that
all educational apps will have the best way for teachers and students to

adjusting to the new normal. But I had a lot of fun taking part and helping my
resource teacher. My task as a teaching assistant made me feel like I also had to

and plan lessons when it's my turn to teach.

ANALYZE
1. What do you think are the best features of the LMS that the teacher used? How did
these features help the students learn the content?
 I believe the teacher's best aspects of the LMS include screen sharing, video and
microphone sharing, chat stream, and classwork. To begin with, sharing the
screen enables the teacher to easily discuss and deliver the lesson, as it enables
the teacher to display PowerPoint or other kinds of media such as pictures or
videos. Secondly, the camera and microphone are excellent features because
they enable students and teachers to exchange perspectives on the subject.
Furthermore, a chat stream is a beneficial feature because it enables students
who are having difficulties opening the microphone to offer their views via chat.
This encourages contact between students and teachers even when they are not
speaking directly to one another. Finally, classwork is an excellent feature
because it keeps students informed about their assignments.
2. How did the teacher/ or you use the LMS to implement the strategies/activities
planned?
 The platform helps teachers create classes, send assignments, communicate with
students, grade coursework, and post feedback all in one place. It also
streamlines repetitive tasks so educators can focus on teaching.
3. How did this connect with what you know about LMS and TPACK?
 As part of planning a virtual learning environment through an LMS, TPACK is
always expected to be a part of the process. Choose the LMS before you know
what you're going to teach (CK) and pick the best platform for it. There are other
things a teacher must also know, such as how to help students learn in a virtual
setting through an LMS (PK). This will be very different. Finally, but most
importantly, you need to know how to teach the lesson in a virtual setting with
technology. The teacher should know how to change the strategies when they

use an LMS. To be a good teacher, I should know how to use the LMS
effectively.
4. What problem or challenges did the teacher/you or the students encounter in
working with the LMS? How did it/they affect the teacher/learners? What part/s of the
LMS do you think can still be improved? How can this/these be improved?
 The most common problem that teachers and students have is not being able to
connect to the internet. There is buffering or disconnecting going on during the
class, which makes it hard for the students to understand and the teacher to
teach. This can be fixed by adding more towers that will make the internet
connections stronger for both students and teachers. There is another problem,
though. I have seen that some students still don't know how to use the Google
Meet app because they don't remember that their cameras or microphones are
on. There are also times when the teacher has a hard time letting the students
into the class.

REFLECT
1. How ready are you in organizing and using an LMS?
 On a scale of 1-10, I believe I am at a 6.5. True, I am quite aware of learning
management systems and their ease of use. However, simply understanding how
to use them is insufficient. The delivery of the lesson must be methodical, which
I believe presents a difficulty for educators who utilize LMSs, since they must
select platforms that are appropriate for the lesson plan's content.
2. Enumerate the knowledge, skills and attitudes you already have to organize your
virtual learning environment and use an LMS:
Content: Since I'm in my final year of college, I believe I've already studied the
fundamental grammar principles, works of literature, and literary theories that I'll need
to pass on to my future students.
Pedagogical: I’ve picked up a number of teaching tactics from my previous teachers
that I'll employ in collaboration with the LMS.
Technological: I have a working knowledge of cyberspace, media, and computers, all of
which are necessary for successfully using the LMS.

2. How was the content taught delivered? How were the learning activities facilitated?
What strategies did the teacher or you used to keep the students engaged? How did
the students respond to the teacher? To the activities?
 The teacher's voice made the discussion interesting, thus the subject was given
successfully. In presenting her lesson, she uses both English and Filipino.
Because the conversation took place online and there are just a few options for
conducting learning activities, the instructor spends the most of the class time

discussing their lesson and only offers a separate timetable for doing their
activities. She also ensures that her pupils are still listening and participating by
asking them to contribute some ideas orally or through chat box.
3. What was your experience in participating and assisting in synchronous classes?
What were your thoughts and feelings while you participated and assisted?
 There were interruptions but they were able to manage. I was happy and
satisfied with how I assisted and participated. Participating in this synchronous
class demonstrates how difficult this form of learning is. Though I was assisted
well by the Resource Teacher, I can say that synchronous class is hard especially
if the connection is unstable.

ANALYZE
1. What do you think are the best features of a web-conferencing app that you or the
teacher used? How did these features help the teachers and the students?
 All of the capabilities of a web-conferencing program that we utilized are its
greatest characteristics since they each serve a distinct function and are useful in
online teaching and learning. These aspects enable and enhance efficient
teaching and learning. These features make it easier for professors and students
to access, manage, and engage during class discussions or meetings.
2. Referring to the Community of Inquiry Infographic, how well did the teacher/or you
use the web-conferencing app to establish: (Describe in detail.)
Teaching Presence?
• Instructional design, especially providing different methods of providing content
• Facilitation of the discussion
• Direct instruction and assisting students with questions and assisting students with
questions and understanding

Cognitive Presence?
• Exploration through reflection and discussion
• Application of knowledge both in the course and outside the classroom.
3. What problem or challenges did the teacher/ you or the students encounter during
the synchronous classes? How did it affect the teacher/learners? What part/s of
synchronous classes do you think can still be improved? How can this/these be
improved?
 The most common issue we've seen is difficulty connecting to the internet. I've
seen a few students who have mistakenly left the online discussion, and there
are instances when they encounter lagging, which renders the audio
incomprehensible due to a weak internet connection. Aside from that, it is
difficult for the instructor to discuss without knowing what her pupils are doing
because she cannot see them because their cameras are turned off, so she must
ensure that they are listening by asking them from time to time. As a result,
teachers and students are having difficulty teaching and coping with the lesson.

REFLECT
1. How ready are you in teaching an online synchronous class?
As a future teacher, I must be ready but I still need to study more about teaching an
online synchronous class, what effective teaching tactics to use, and how to ensure
students learning. Especially on technology and app to use for effective synchronous or
distance classes.
2. Using a web-conferencing app, how else would you better establish:
Teaching Presence?
 Using a web-conferencing app in synchronous teaching, I would establish lessons
that directly connect to the learning outcomes so my students can be able to
achieve it. I will display the summary of the lesson which visible and
understandable.

Cognitive Presence?
 Using a web-conferencing app in synchronous teaching, I would establish
gamification that the students feel motivated and arouse their interest.
3. What do you still need to learn in order to conduct an online synchronous class using
a web-conferencing app effectively?
 I still need to learn how to make my class fully engaged on our discussions with
the use of features of web conferencing app.

REFLECT
What do I hope to address the problem/challenge/area of improvement in a webconferencing app use? What change do you want to achieve?
 Due to poor internet connection, the communication process has always been
the major problem in web conferencing. I know it can’t be solved but I am still
hoping that one day, it will be addressed. As of today, consideration for the
students is the least we can do.

1. During an online synchronous class, Ms. Bonifacio greets her students cheerfully. She
allows time for the students to know more about their classmates through interesting
polls. She also provides opportunities for the students to work together and collaborate.
She uses the reaction buttons, smiley, heart, or clap to appreciate the students' effort
and excitement to participate. She was able to attain which essential element?
Answer: C. Social presence
2. During a two-hour online synchronous class, the Science teacher taught about
centripetal and centrifugal forces. She did not introduce the learning goals for the
session. She shared on screen the first PowerPoint she found on the internet and
lectured about the topic to students without engaging them to participate. They were
passive the whole time. Some students turned off their cameras. She ended the class
with a quiz on the topic. The teacher did NOT effectively demonstrate which essential
element?
Answer: B. Teaching presence
3. The topic of the online synchronous session for the day was how the Philippines will
attain herd immunity from Covid 19 the fastest way. After introducing the topic, the
teacher explained to the students one learning outcome which for them to analyze the
current situational factors that may impede and hasten the Philippines' goal of attaining
herd immunity. Another learning outcome was for students to articulate suggestions on
how the Philippines will succeed on this goal. The teacher provided readings ahead of
time and also placed the links on the chat box. She allotted time for the students to go
to the small group meeting rooms she arranged on the web conferencing app for

Did the formative assessment tasks help students master what they were expected to
learn?
 Yes, because formative assessments inform instruction within and between
lessons, for both student and teacher. Formative assessments confirm what a
student has mastered and identify the learning that comes next for the student.
Was students’ response to formative assessment exercises favorable or unfavorable?
Why?
 It was favorable because the formative assessment exercise is easy and
achievable wherein students can answer it easily since most of the questions are

discuss by their teacher during their lesson. And being able to actively participate
in the class discussions helps them a lot to effectively acquire lessons.
Did the conduct of formative assessment and self-assessment affect students’
attainment of learning outcomes? How?
 Yes, it positively affected the students’ attainment of learning outcomes because
due to those kinds of assessments, students are able to reflect from the lesson.
What was the effect of students assessing their own progress on their motivation to
learn?
 Assessing their own progress motivates them to strive harder to reach higher
than what they have achieved.

REFLECT
How would attainment of learning outcomes be affected if there were no formative
assessments nor self-assessments?
 Ultimately, the goal of formative assessment is to guide students toward the
development of their own learning to learn skills also sometimes referred to as
metacognitive strategies thus, a key role for teachers is to help children build
confidence and develop a variety of learning strategies.

specific answers and performance tasks.
4. Were the assessment tasks for formative purposes also used for summative

 Yes, formative assessment can also use effectively for summative assessment
purposes to help tract the learner's progress at the end of the lesson.
6. Which assessment activity/activities did the students like more? Like least? Why?
 Students are likely to be motivated to demonstrate the skills or talents that they
have acquired through product performance. Unlike the traditional method of
using paper and pen, it is more likely to be used because you cannot truly
demonstrate what you have learnt because you can simply memorize all of the
information.

 Of course, the simplest way to guarantee that an assessment is meaningful is to
just ask the learners what they thought. To ensure an effective assessment
create a survey following each major assessment. To ensure that learners master
the knowledge and abilities required. assessment tasks should be matched with
the learning outcomes. When students are informed of the desired objectives.

1. What are the teaching implications of the students’ test scores and grades?
 As a teacher, we may be able to do further re-evaluation on how we computed
grades based on the learners' performance Consider the new grading system so
that we may determine where and on what we should concentrate our efforts.
The new grading system follows a set of rules. That is, the grades are
determined by how the teacher promotes fairness, instructs, and thoroughly
delivers his or her topic and the test scores will address student learning needs
early on in areas where the student has failed short of the expectations, and
prioritize instruction to help the student to succeed throughout teaching learning
process.
2. In what subjects did students perform best? Poorest?
 We don't have access to the students' grades, and we don't have a sample copy
of the children' grades. However, the teacher informed us that their grades were

3. How was the PTC attendance of parents and guardians? What does this imply?
 The parents and guardians are all present in the conference. It is well-planned
conferences between teacher and the parents and the agenda is all about
responsibility and opportunity. It implies to discuss their children’s progress in
school, their children’s grade and to plan for the improvement of the classroom
facilities such as (toilet, cabinet, electric fan, window grills etc.)
4. What parents/guardians’/comments were most common during Card-Giving Day?
 The most comments of the parents during Card-giving day after they receive the
cards are “why my child has a low grade” and “why is he/she low in this
subject?” the parents keep monitoring if they notice the bad result of their
children but if they see that the grades are high, they keep silent.


What personal message do I get from these students’ scores, grades and parents’/
guardians’ PTC attendance and comments?
 I really feel so overwhelmed because the personal message that I get is full of
positive vibes. But also, they told me that they are very fond of the new grading
system as it offers more options to the students and the teacher is more than
gratified as his students are not just learning about what’s written in textbooks
but also, they can apply what they have learned such as life skills and
competencies that they can use in real-life scenarios. On the other hand, all of
these futures of tomorrow have an astounding mark that's why their comments
serve as a thank you message where all of them told me that I am really

REFLECT
The scoring/ grading/ Parents-Teachers Conference went well because
 The teacher listens to the inquiries of the parents or guardians about their
personal inquiries on the grades of their child. on the invitation that we created,
it reminds parents that they'll be able to ask questions, because we all know that
an effective parent-teacher conference is a two-way conversation about students.
We also remind the parents as soon as possible to be respectful of other parents'
time and be clear that time slots won't be extended if parents arrive late.
The scoring/ grading/ Parents-Teachers Conference did not go well because

that they are already on the peak of their maturity where independence and

the class, uninterested and unmotivated in the lesson, not participating in the
activity tasks, rush in going home and often fighting.
B. Reflect:
Think deeply of the problem and your observation. Why is this happening?
Can the slow learners be helped? How will it be done?
I think these problems arouse is that the classroom routine and
procedure are not effective in handling the class. This makes the students
behavior change. I believe that I should modify my classroom routine and
strategy.
C. Plan for Action
Write your own Plan of Action Research based on the key questions. You
give more details.
My action plan is that I will conduct action research on how to address
these problems.
My intervention to identified the problem is that I will conduct a
survey questionnaire to teachers about their concerns in their students
especially in the classroom routines and procedures. It will take an hour to get
the results of intervention.
To teacher, I will need the result of the intervention so I must
have a basis to deploy good strategies on how to address the problem.
To student, this will help them to encourage and to ensure quality
learning, I need their cooperation and participation to successfully complete the
action research plan.
I need survey questionnaire sampling to collect data about the
problem and on how to address this problem.
Methods, participants, data collection time table are considered in
my Action Research Plan since those are important part to solve the problems.

REFLECT
What was your experience in writing the action research plan?
 I realized that doing action research plan as early as possible is important
because it will help me to prepare for my future in the way of, it will generate to
improve teaching pedagogy, as the plans are created, and implemented. In
addition, it will develop new knowledge directly related to classroom.
What knowledge, attitude, and skills did you have that helped you accomplish it?

 As a future educator, I can utilize action research by reflecting on my practice so
as to enhance it, to become more autonomous in professional judgment, to form
a more energetic and dynamic environment for teaching and learning, to
articulate and build my craft knowledge, and to acknowledge and appreciate my
very own expertise. so, action research is worth doing because it will not only
enhance our ideas and improve our pedagogy but it will help us to take actions
of what we may add or improve in our teaching as we begin to discover things
that are hard for our learners.
What do you still need to learn and develop in yourself to be a skilled teacherresearcher?
 With strong critical thinking skills, teachers are able to consider the best interests
of their students while also working within the institution's goals and standards.
