Sometimes, the most talented ones, are the ones most often overlooked. And I believe Sidney Sheldon is one of those few. Sidney Sheldon was a crime and thriller author who left an incredible impact on the literary world. Though, his books have been all but forgotten, it does not change the astounding plots and thoughts he put into his books. Today I will introduce you to one of his of his best works, a murder mystery novel, Bloodline. Bloodline’s plot revolves around the murder of Sam Roffe, president of Roffe and Sons. Roffe and Sons is a family company, an international empire filled with cash hungry family members. Sam Roffe had everything in the world, except a son. Who would be the heir to the company. Instead, he had a daughter, Elizabeth, who after his death/murder, became the president of Roffe and Sons. And while she was learning about the companies on and goings, she finds a document. A confidential one that proved that someone was trying to kill Sam Roffe and that someone was on the board of Roffe and Sons. And all for the one thing that the whole world runs onMoney. What makes I even more interesting is that Roffe and Sons, is a family company, which means that the board consists of family members, all related to dear, old Sam. And now this persons mission was to kill Elizabeth for the same thing, because their motive is to get their hands on extra cash, and like father like daughter, Elizabeth refused it. “Never let a friendly fox into the chickens hen” So now the main question is that who was on a murder spree; the one who married a Roffe solely for the inheritance and power the name Roffe carried, but soon realized that he would receive nothing? Or was it the one who needed money to get out of his marriage to a crazy lady or he would quite literary die? Or maybe it was the man who needed cash to pay of his wife’s gambling debts? Or, better yet the man who needed to pay of his mistress so she doesn’t ruin his marriage? This story is told from ever point if view you could imagine. Every side of the story gets their turn to speak but we still don’t know who was responsible for the murder of Sam Roffe. That is what is unique about Sidney Sheldon. He ends every possible trail to finding out who is the culprit that was we near the end, we are so on edge that we just run out of ideas and the only way to quench our curiosity, is to read till the very end. Till the very last word, you never get bored. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a passion for murder mysteries because this book is basically everything they could ask for. A suspense, a thriller with a tiny bit of romance thrown in. Each character with a different mindset and a different motive. Each one on their own and they don’t even know it. Bloodline just proves that you cannot trust anyone with your darkest secrets until you know theirs. But it also teaches you that if you find that one thing that gives you peace, your life is complete. “To find riches is the dream of beggers but to find love is the king of dreams” Elizabeth Roffe says when her husband proposes to her. Elizabeth Roffe has the biggest character development ever, From a shy school girl wih no social life, to the richest woman in the world investigating what is probably what is the biggest scandal of the year, Elizabeth teaches us that it is never too late to change. You just need to have that one thing that gives you a purpose. Elizabeth is the only one in the story who we know for sure has simple and pure motive, to find out who killed her father. And she does this all while handling the company and its problems, avoiding death and keeping everyone out of the light to what she really knows, She truly is an inspiration and a character who we should all learn from. Time is the enemy of love, The thief that shortens All our golden hours. I have never understood then Why lovers count their happiness In days and nights and years, While our love can only be measured In our joys and sighs and tears. if you like a good murder, or a good scandal, or a good wake up call, this is the book for you. If you have a passion in anything, music, reading, writing, poetry, this is the book for you. And even if you are confused and need an break, this book is the perfect distraction. Thank you
