French Thematic Units Overview
Whether you have purchased some of my French bundles, mega bundles, or
individual resources, or have never purchased any, this overview is designed to
help you see what is available from my store when planning your thematic French
lessons. It lists all my French thematic units (35 as of August 2023), gives a brief
outline of teaching, includes links to the individual resource packets for each unit,
plus links for related resources from my store that you might also want to use.
While it does include the majority of my French resources (as I have mostly worked
thematically to this point), it is not an exhaustive list, and you might find other
resources in my store that you wish to use too.

More Information about the Thematic Units
For each unit, there is a comprehensive, interactive PowerPoint presentation (almost all presentations are in PDF format
too, without the interactivity), vocabulary support page(s), differentiated worksheets and puzzles, and printable games
and activities. Most units come with printable flashcards, and there are some additional resources too. I have compiled
this list to help you navigate the resources. Clicking on the links will allow you to see which ones you have already
purchased, and you will be able to download or purchase as required.
These resources, which can be used for initial teaching or review, are designed for beginners, near beginners or early
intermediate students. As the teaching of French commences at different ages and stages in different places, it’s hard to
be too specific about what grades they will best suit. I list them for 4th – 8th Grade but teachers have told me they have
used them successfully with younger and older students too. Please check out my detailed preview files to ensure they
will be suitable for your students. Differences between US English and Canadian / UK / Australian English are catered for
within resources when relevant.
Although I have numbered the units here, there is no specific order to follow. However, the first few listed are
recommended as early ones and some of the latter ones (not including seasonal units, which are best taught when
seasonally appropriate) contain some slightly more challenging and detailed content and would be better taught later
on. Each unit introduces and reviews key vocabulary and phrases for the specific topic being focused on. There is plenty
of overlap and consolidation across the units with basic grammar and vocabulary. At sentence level, the vast majority of
the content is in the present tense only, to suit students working at an earlier stage in their French learning.
I have not been specific about how long each unit should last, as it will depend on the needs of your students and time
available. You may wish to use all of a unit, or just select some of the content, maybe to supplement existing resources.
However you use this overview and my resources, I hope they are useful and save you time. I love helping fellow
