A maximum of 30 silo augers can be connected to Thomas Multifeed. A
frequency controller allows you to adjust the speed of the silo auger. You
can define the feed quantity and composition in a feed table, and enter the
feeding times and quantities in a biorhythm table. This allows you to supply
the desired type and quantity of feed to each animal or feeding point. It is
possible to use a sensor to control the feeding cycles.

PRINCIPLE
Crusher
Dosing In
Thomas Multifeed can control a crusher to crush the desired
feed components before transferring them to the weigher (or
mix weigher).
The feed components are transported from the silos or
dosing devices to the weigher. It is possible to crush the feed
components before they go into the weigher.
Mini-dosing
Weighing
Feed supplements can be added to the weigher (or mix
weigher) by up to four dosing devices. This can be done
based on time or pulses.
The feed is weighed with a feed weigher. If desired, a mixer
can mix the feed.
Weigher (or Mix Weigher)
●
Directly into the circuit
The feed types from the various silos are weighed with the
weigher (or mix weigher). A feed portion can consist of one or
more feed types. After the weighing is complete the amount
of feed used is automatically subtracted from the silo contents. After the feed is mixed (if desired), the feed is discharged into the bin. The feed is fed into the circuit from this
bin. This dosing out process can be done in several ways:
●
Using one or more augers
●
Directly into the circuit
●
Using one or more valves
●
Using one or more augers
●
Using one or more valves
Dosing Out
The weighed feed is then collected in a bin and dosed out
into the circuit. This can be done in several ways, for
example:
Transport
The feed is transported via the circuit(s) to the feeding point.
Thomas makes sure that the feeding-point valve is opened at
exactly the right time.
Circuits
Thomas Multifeed can control up to 16 circuits. When there is
more than one circuit, the following options are available for
filling the circuit:
●
Simultaneous
The circuits are filled in cycles. First feed place 1 of circuit 1, then feed place 1 of circuit 2, and so on. Once all
the first feeding points of each circuit have been filled,
the Thomas Multifeed will continue with feeding point 2
of all circuits.
●
After each other
The circuits will start after each other. As soon as the first
circuit is ready, the second circuit will start. This option
can be selected when the capacity of the silo auger is
not sufficient to fill the circuits simultaneously.
CONTROL FUNCTIONS
Silos
Thomas Multifeed can control up to 30 silos. With a frequency controller it is possible to control the speed of the silo
auger. This allows more precise dosing to the weigher (or mix
weigher). The silo allocation is flexible, so you can store the
feed components in different silos at different times.
Feed Consumption Registration
Biorhythm Table
Thomas Multifeed keeps a record of how much feed is
weighed by the feed weigher per day. This is tracked separately for each type of feed.
The biorhythm table is used to determine how much feed is
dispensed at the various feeding times. Based on the data
from the biorhythm table, feed table and management program, Thomas Multifeed calculates how much feed is
required per feeding point per feeding time. Up to 10 biorhythm tables with 10 inflection points can be entered.
Valves
Thomas Multifeed can control up to 512 valves. These can be
allocated independently per barn, room or sty. Thomas Multifeed can control up to 32 valves (feeding points) per room
(max. 128). The valves can be connected both pneumatically
and motor controlled.
Compressor
Thomas Multifeed can switch on a compressor to control the
feed valves. This can be done in the following ways:
●
Compressor 24 hrs: The compressor is switched on continuously
●
Compressor start-up: During each feed cycle the compressor is first started up before the feed is weighed out.
Sensor Feeding
To avoid feeding unnecessary portions, Thomas Multifeed is
capable of sensor-controlled feeding. A sensor is placed at
each feeding point, and prior to the feed cycle the feeding
points included in that feeding cycle are checked to determine whether they should get a new portion.
Inspection
It is essential that all the components of the feeding system
keep working correctly. With Thomas Multifeed, it is possible
to inspect and monitor the most important aspects of your
feed system, such as:
●
Silos: Operation of silo augers / minimum content of silos
●
Circuits: Circulation guard / cable rupture / circuit fault /
status of (final) limit sensors
GENERAL
Feed Table
The feed table makes it possible to set how much feed each
animal gets per day. The feed composition is also entered
here. Based on the feed table, Thomas Multifeed uses the
day counter or the weight to calculate the amount of feed that
an animal gets per day. Up to 20 feed tables with 20 inflection
points may be entered.
Alarm
Thomas Multifeed has two types of messages: a warning or
an alarm. In the case of a warning, a message will appear on
Thomas Multifeed display. In the case of an alarm, the alarm
contact will also be broken. All messages are saved in the
alarm log with start and end times.
Diagnostics
In diagnostics, you can call up a number of additional functions. These include the status of the feed weigher, the
assigned silos and circuit sensors and your computer’s serial
number.
Communication
ThomApp
Thomas uses various communication protocols, such as:
The ThomApp makes it possible to operate the barn computers remotely with your smartphone or tablet. After installing the software on your device, you can establish a connection with Thomas computers in the barn via the Internet and
the SmartLink-RM and thus take control of them. The keys
and screens in the app are exactly the same as those on your
Thomas computer. This makes operation very familiar and
allows you to control the barn computer quickly and accurately, no matter where you happen to be at that moment.
●
CAN Backbone
Via the CAN Backbone you can link multiple Thomas
computers together in a network. You can then use a
SmartLink-RM to connect a PC or modem to this network
of Thomas computers.
●
CAN Local
Thomas communicates with the CAN I/O modules by
means of the CAN Local. You can expand the inputs and
outputs of Thomas Multifeed with the following CAN I/O
modules:
●
○
CAN-IO-LCA (D)
○
CAN-IO-12-6
○
CAN-IO-16-00
○
CAN-IO-00-16
Ethernet
Via Ethernet, it is possible to directly connect one
Thomas computer to the Prisma management program.
If you would also like to use the ThomApp, you will need
to connect a SmartLink-RM to your Thomas via the CAN
Backbone.
Prisma Management Program
You can use the Prisma management program to control
Thomas Multifeed remotely from your PC or tablet. Ease of
use and the graphical display are key factors here too. You
can see at a glance an overview of all the barns in your company, which systems are active within each barn and whether
an alarm has been generated.
In the management program, various items of data are
recorded that will keep you informed of, for example:
●
The current silo contents
●
The feed consumption per feeding point
●
The water consumption
This data can easily be converted to tables and/or graphs so
that you can analyze it quickly and easily.
