2 groups: A and B
Group A: only look at crosswords A
Group B: only look at crosswords B
Each group will work together, discussing
definitions of the words in your grid orally.
You can use the stems on the left to help you.
Feel free to use dictionaries.

ACTIVITY 2 Describing Objects
What aspect of an object can you describe?
Suffix –ish can be used informally
to describe:
- Color: reddish, brownish
- Age: thirtyish
- Time: sevenish
ACTIVITY 2 Describing Objects
• Work in pairs.
• Take turns to describe an object WITHOUT saying what it is.
• The other student guess what it is.
ACTIVITY 3 Developing vocabulary: paraphrasing and explaining
• Work in groups.
• Receive a pack of word cards and put them face
down.
• Divide them up between you, still face down.
• Each member has 60 SECONDS to describe as many
of the words on their cards as possible.
• You MUST NOT say the word on the card, NOR any
word in the same word family.
• The other students guess the word.
• The student(s) who have the most cards are
winners.
