Michael Gary Scott, the main actor of the American sitcom TV series “The Office” is our chosen leader for further analysis. Michael Scott is portrayed by American actor and comedian Steve Carell. In the TV Series, he was born on March 15, 1964, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA. He struggled with loneliness as a child and frequently discussed it in the series (Fandom, n.d.). Also, Michael did not attend college (Fandom, n.d.). He was hired as a salesman at Dunder Mifflin on May 6, 1992. Dunder Mifflin in the TV Series is a fictional paper company. The company is based in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and was founded by Robert Dunder in 1949. The corporate office is in New York City and it has other branches in Akron, Ohio, New Hampshire, Rochester, and others (DMPC, n.d.). They had sales, accounting, human resources, and customer service all using the same office space in Scranton, while warehousing and shipping space were housed in a different area of the same building (DMPC, n.d.). The company offers its customers high-quality office and information technology goods, furniture, printing values, and the knowledge needed to make informed purchasing decisions (Land, 2016). However, the company had its limitations. When the world was changing, Dunder Mifflin company was not. The company still relied on phone conversations rather than the Internet, which drove most consumers to national chains, and it is unable to adapt to an increasingly paperless society (DMPC, n.d.). Michael Scott's performance in the sales department earned him the position of regional manager of the Scranton location (Fandom, n.d.). M. Scott was a useful salesman, but he was revealed to be an incompetent manager who struggled to deal with the administration of his branch (Fandom, n.d.). Even though he had various problems, couldn’t deal with his team, lack of common sense, he still was a sweet and genuine leader who wanted the best for his crew. After leaving Dunder Mifflin, at the end of the series, Michael was appointed to be the Director of Paper Distribution for the Department of Natural Resources in Boulder, Colorado. Fandom. (n.d.).
