1. Do you know of any person or group that has been through a crisis?
Discuss that person’s or group’s experience in terms of the main
elements of a crisis which you have learned from this chapter.
Yes. This person has experienced a crisis in his life. He suddenly lost
his job and it is very terrible. He is struggling because he already has children
and he always think about what he would provide for his family. About where
he can find a food for them to eat three times a day.
In the elements of crisis, it is a stressful event. A transitional or situational
stress. Because, losing a job is a transition in your life. Where you can feel
stress because you are in a situation that you’re so down. You don’t know how
or when you are going to start again from the start. And some won’t do anything
about it because they were being discouraged. The person I know feel stressed,
he always cry and cry. He don’t know what to do anymore. He is pressured by
its own family. He is being questioned “why did you lose your job”, and another
is “you have to find another job as soon as possible”.
2. Did anyone intervene to help that person or group deal with the crisis? If
yes, was the intervention helpful/effective? If no one intervened, would it
have made a difference if someone did? Explain your answer.
Yes there is. Someone came and suggested to him that he has a job to
offer. But before that, we his neighbour always comfort him and always told him
that he should not be affected by the transition of his life. It is normal to loose a
job. But we have to remember that problem the problems can’t make us move
on to another chapter. This means that if we stick to the problem and let it make
us very stressful, we cannot find a way to solve our problem. So, instead to
problem it, we have to be positive. What is its not for us because there is
something better that what we have lost. Then, someone came and suggested
a job. It is much better than his other job and can make his family eat three
times a day and more.
If no one intervene, I think he is still stressing out right now. And still no
job. Maybe he might be engaged in alcohol addiction. Because mostly, the one
who is stressed want to drink and drink always to ease their problems. But they
don’t know that it became an another problem because alcoholic drinks are
expensive.
3. Cite the different kinds of crises being experienced by individuals,
families, groups and communities in the country. How do we respond to
such crises, individually, and collectively? What do you think ought to be
our ways of dealing with these crises?
Crises can vary from personal and family issues to larger community or
societal challenges. It’s important to approach these crises with empathy,
understanding, and support. Individually, we can offer a listening ear, emotional
support, and practical help to those in need. Collectively, communities can
come together to provide resources, organize support networks, and advocate
for systemic change. It’s essential to foster open communication, promote
mental health awareness, and seek professional help when necessary.
