While the publishers have made every

There is a shift in regional channel dynamics. Global
vendors are progressively moving towards in
country distributor partnership. The hub and spoke
arrangement with a central hub managing multiple
country operations is becoming increasingly less
reliable. Each country has been recognised to have its
own dynamics and its own localised channel partner
relationship. With an overall slowdown in corporate
IT buying, global vendors are keen to aggressively
penetrate and develop country markets previously
kept at second run. With such a perspective, in
country distributors are better placed to recognise
the role played by local channel partners and their
requirements. The Handbook of Distributors is an effort
by Reseller Middle East to move towards profiling
distributors in more detail and in multiple countries.
RME sent out survey forms to more than 250 active
vendors. The Handbook is a compilation of their
responses. We hope you find this compilation useful
and informative. We look forward to receiving your

What have been some highlights
within your Middle East operations?
Since we established our MEA office
in 2013, we have managed to grow
Middle East operations far and wide.
The major highlight of our operations in

our channel partners.
How do you differentiate yourself in
this highly competitive market?

Philips and AOC under our umbrella,
we are the leaders in monitor business,
providing the most innovative and best
value display technology solutions,
through responsible designs that
combine cutting-edge technological
features with a unique lifestyle feeling.
Philips is positioned as a reliable,
corporate brand for the enterprise
and SMB customers who look for B2B
business solutions, whereas, AOC
is positioned as consumer friendly,
stylish and more suitable for the price
conscious customers. This enables us
to address both ends of the market,
striking difference with our competitors.

Which are your focus markets within
the region and which are the verticals
driving your business?
For us, Africa is the key emerging
market and we are focusing on
expanding our reach in the African
continent. We continue to invest our
resources in channel development,
channel enablement, and awareness
for both of our brands.
With respect to industry verticals,
I would say that our business is not
driven by any specific industry verticals.
Having said that, with the AOC brand we
are focusing on gaming, and we have
recently created a whole new range of
gaming monitors called AGON. Features
include Adaptive-Sync or G-Sync for
smooth visuals, and 144Hz refresh rates
for faster hardware performance.
What is your growth strategy for
next year?
With more feet on the ground, we
intend to penetrate deeper into the
region. Backed by the widest product
portfolio in the world, coupled with our
channel friendly partner programme,
we intend to drive growth.
Can you elaborate on your channel
plans for the next six months?
We have devised our channel partner
programme in such a way that it
can provide an extra edge to all our
partners. This partner programme
is created to support our partners
by creating and identifying more
opportunities, as well as converting
leads to business. And, all the business
goals are driven by this partner
programme and in the next two
quarters, we intend to increase our
geographical footprint and introduce
new models.
How can partners better leverage
the opportunities from emerging
technologies?
Technology innovations are tailoring
the market towards a new direction
that is being fueled by the demand for
solutions rather than products. Partners
need to work towards scaling up their
sales and technical skills and knowledge
about new technologies to support the
market requirement for solution selling
rather than just pushing a box.
What are some of the immediate
changes a partner should bring
about to his business in order to
maximise profits?
Partners need to invest in resources
and services to sell a solution
rather than just a product. Instead
of selling a box, understanding
the complete requirement of a
customer will open up new doors of
opportunity that will enable partners
to add more value to a deal and
enjoy better returns on investment.
What is your business objective
for 2017?
We expect the market for monitors in
the region to show long-term growth
and we aim to establish ourselves as
a leader in innovations across Middle
East and Africa. One of our strategic
goals is permanent growth. In the
coming year, we aim to strengthen our
partnership with key distributors and
resellers in the region.

Recent highlights
In the last fiscal year, we have separated
our operations into two distribution entities
– the new entity is Bulwark Distribution and
the existing Bulwark Technologies. Bulwark
Distribution focuses on channel growth
and development for fast moving security
products, while Bulwark Technologies
will emphasise on high-end corporate
security solutions through major systems
integrators in the region. It was a year of
adding vendors and building a stronger
product portfolio. We have been constantly
investing on new and proven technologies
to provide world-class and best-of-breed
service to our partners and customers.
Market differentiators
Our product portfolio enables us to offer
our partners complete solutions that fulfill
the compliance and security requirements
of the customers. We provide complete
support to our partners to provide costeffective solutions addressing the security
issues of customers. As a value-added
distributor, we work as an extended
arm of our vendors. We have a team of
experts offering value-added services for
the solutions from our vendors to partners
and customers. We provide training and
channel enablement sessions for our
partners and provide them with marketing
support through demand generation and
various marketing campaigns.
Growth strategy for 2017
Our business objective and future focus
is to constantly enhance our portfolio
by adding new technology vendors
to meet the security challenges
and address emerging business
enablers. We are involved in enabling
our channel partners by creating
and executing well-crafted channel
programmes. Through the recent
launch of the two entities – Bulwark
Technologies and Bulwark Distribution,
we plan to provide more focused
and world-class customer service to
meet the ever-growing demands of
our vendors, partners and customers.
We are also focused on adding more
networking and security solutions
vendors to our product portfolio.
Channel plans
Bulwark plans to keep its channel
community up-to-date on the specialised
technology products and solutions
and simultaneously provide worldclass service to its customers. It is our
continuous and ongoing effort to invest
on channel initiatives, which include
long-term partner growth plans, partner
certification and reward programmes
and channel enablement sessions. Our
constant focus is on channel growth and
development. We have been empowering
our channel community, which has
significantly contributed to our growth and
development as a value-added distributor
in the region. We are very much selective
while engaging with our channel partners
for various products and ensure that the
partner has the capability, resources and
customer relationship to handle such
technology products. We are also seeing
more vendors approaching us to take up
their products through our established
channels utilising our years of experience
gained over operation in the region since
the year 1999.
Opportunities for partners
This year will see substantial growth
in business as customers continue to
invest in security solutions. A constant
and continued focus by partners on the
emerging security technologies, channel
growth and development are a must
for the current year. An excellent and
world-class service to your customers will

There is a greater demand for
emerging technologies as new frontiers of
technologies such as social media, cloud,

For over 40 years Elo Touch Solutions
has been focused on touch screen
innovations. With our years of experience,
we have accumulated a strong know-how
in this industry, which differentiate us from
our competitors. In this regard, we have
established strong rapports with leading
retailers and industrial groups not only
here in the region but also in other parts
of the world.
We attribute our success to a
combination of high-quality products,
confidence of a large network of channel
partners and a dedicated staff of highprecision technology.
The Middle East region is a key
emerging market for us and this year
we have strengthened our focus in this
region. We started with hiring a dedicated
regional sales manager to support our
go-to-market strategy and increase
channel opportunities. We have expanded
our business to Jordan, Lebanon, Algeria
and Morocco. The last few years have
also seen Elo Touch ink large projects
with government and education entities in
the GCC.
In addition, we have set up plans for
further growth in the region next year
together with our distributors, Trigon and
JarlTech, to name a few.
Market focus and strategy
The prospects for next year are very
promising for Elo Touch Solutions. We have
identified three axes to drive the success
of our business in the region namely
product, region and vertical markets.
Last year has been full of lessons that
have helped us identify lines of products,
which will lead to this success. As a result,
we decided to push our digital signage
products line more aggressively in the
regional markets that we have identified
as most promising in this space namely:
Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, Nigeria and
Morocco. As far as the vertical markets
are concerned: tier 1 retail, hospitality,
government and transportation are the key
markets for our growth in the region even
amid adverse economic conditions.
We came up with two pillars to support
our growth strategy in the channel industry.
First, is pushing for the widespread
adoption of our new generation of
products such as large screens for digital
signage (02-series) and open frame
monitors readied for kiosks and totems
(90-series). These products were studied
carefully to match the growing needs of
the regional market with the top quality at
the best price. The second pillar is about
focusing on the channel partners as a key
asset to leverage our success everywhere.

In the market segment we operate in, we
believe that having the right knowledge
is key. If partners want to be at the
forefront and win the confidence of their
end-users then they need to enhance
the technical know-how and increase
their levels of expertise. End-users today
want a company that gives them the
latest products and provides them with
consultancy services they can rely on.
And this is something, we believe we
excel on.
Growth plans
In the next few months, we plan to put our
focus on supporting our regional network
of distributors, and through them, our
integrators and resellers. We have also
set up a variety of training programmes,
incentive programme and joint go-tomarket visits to end-user. These plans
are still in progress, as we aim to tailor
its implementations depending on the
level of channel representation we
have in each sub-region, which include
GCC, Levant, Maghreb, Turkic states,
Sub-Saharan Africa and India. We aim
also to appoint new channel partners in
uncovered areas.
Goal for 2017
Be in the top three large screens
providers for Interactive Digital Signage in
the region. At the same time, optimise our
channel reach in the Gulf and reach out to
new channel partners in Africa.

What have been the recent
achievements and highlights for
Exclusive Networks in the Middle East?
We have enjoyed strong growth in
a tough market. This is testament to
the solutions we provide, the channel
partners we work with, and the strong
team at Exclusive Networks. We have
continued to develop stronger and
deeper relationships with our vendors
and our customers by meeting their
evolving demands and expectations.
BigTec is a major highlight for the
Exclusive team. Launched earlier this
year in the Middle East and being
presented for the first time at GITEX,
BigTec helps its partners harness
the opportunities from new cloud
architectures and virtualised data centre
functions that are progressively more
web-scale and software-defined. The
evolution to full virtualisation of complex
IT functions is embodied by BigTec’s
enterprise transformation framework,
guiding reseller partners and their
customers from physical to hybrid and
virtual data centre environments.
How have the current security trends
impacted your revenues? As an IT security distributor, our
revenue is influenced by IT security
spending in the market. I believe there
are several factors that will increase
the security spending in the next few
years and beyond. Organisations will
continue to invest in perimeter security.
As a result of BYOD and cloud usage,
organisations will have less visibility
and control on users and devices, which
means more security will be required on
the network level (corporate or cloud).

from other vendors who claim to deliver

security ecosystem.
What are some of the challenges you
face while selling security?
Budget constraint is one of the biggest
challenges we face when it comes to
selling security. Additionally, lack of

how are you preparing to leverage
this change?
Virtualisation and cloud are two of the
most rapidly evolving technologies.
This has been driven by factors
such as ease of deployment and
cost reduction. There are even

However, there are many new
advance attacks and exploits
targeting virtual and cloud-based
infrastructures, which require the
adoption of new security architecture,
technologies and policies.
Looking ahead, what are your plans for
the rest of the year?
We will continue to drive BigTec, our
new data centre distribution arm, in
its f irst full year of operation. So far
it has been a success, so we plan
for continued grow th during Q4.
And with Exclusive Networks, the
same. We’re having a strong year.
We will also be hiring extensively in
preparation for 2017.

In 2017, we will focus on educating

breakthrough technologies while
providing real solutions to today’s

Recent highlights
In the past year, we have extended
our business to Palestine, and seen
significant increases in sales - specifically
in Kuwait. We also had a larger count of
VARs in the Middle East, increasing our
reach to different industries and market
sectors in various countries.
This year, the most exciting initiative is
our launch of Business Process Library,
along with our release of version 10.
Business Process Library features a
variety of prebuilt processes and forms
tailored for a variety of business needs.
It includes templates, prebuilt process
diagrams, forms, workflows, template
fields and reports that are easily
configurable to fit specific requirements.
Keeping up to date
Laserfiche provides a user friendly,
simple and elegant to use software to
customers, allowing rapid user adoption.
We have a large community of users who
collaborate with each other via hosting
usre groups, training sessions, and
webinars to ensure customers are always
up to date with the Laserfiche ECM
technology. VARs also receive frequent

Market focuses and target verticals
Over the past year, we have had great
success with government organisations,
especially in the oil and gas sector
in Kuwait, and expanding existing
Laserfiche customers to enterprisewide for construction companies in the
Middle East. With the release of our new
features in Laserfiche, Business Process
Library and Laserfiche Discussions,
organisations can easily streamline their
business processes with fast deployment,
while having the ability to collaborate
with other users within the organisation
to make timely, informed decisions. We
are looking at educating organisations
on how to incorporate new ECM
technologies into their daily operations,
allowing more organisations to adopt the
Laserfiche ECM technology.
Channel plans
The Laserfiche channel is expanding in
the Middle East, and our community is
stronger than ever. We are also looking
at expanding our reseller channel to
untouched markets, providing extensive
training to resellers and building a
tighter community so each reseller can
learn from each other and work with
Laserfiche closely. With business process
automation being our focus in the next
year, many resellers are realising the
importance to assist organisations in
such automation, using powerful tools
that Laserfiche offers.
Competitive edge
Partners should leverage on the
new tools that Laserfiche provides to
organisations to educate the market on
how these tools can assist them in being
more efficient in their daily operations.
This could be by hosting workshops,
seminars or equivalent marketing
initiatives to reach out to potential
customers and ensure clients and users
are kept up to date on what is being
offered in the market. Training is essential
to partners in order to consistently
enhance their knowledge and expertise
in the ECM technologies that are being
offered to organisations. Partners should
also understand the market landscape
and how each organisation operates so
to provide the right consultation services
and recommendations in order to
differentiate themselves from competitors.
2017 business objectives
We will continue focusing on closing
new accounts and spreading Laserfiche
solutions across the Middle East region.

well as regional consolidation (e.g. the
exit of a number of IT players from the
Middle East) are all events we monitor
closely and attempt to learn from and
adapt to, if proven necessary. On the
technology side, the usual suspects,
i.e. the cloud, IoT and Big Data seem
to be the three main influencers of our
channel business in the medium and
long-term.
Regional expansion plans
We have both horizontal expansion (based
on geography) and vertical expansion
(based on technologies/vendor portfolio)
for the Middle East region. Projects such as
a Cloud Marketplace and Client Services
are also running in parallel. The recent
anaemic business climate in the region
has been contributing to surfacing some
significant commercial opportunities and,
at Mindware, we certainly have our radars
focused on a number of such prospects.
Reseller prospects
Three words: education, education,
education. There is so much more
opportunity to be exploited out there
and, at Mindware, we constantly advise
our partners to explore new options, be
it commercially or technologically. We all
are, after all, part of the most dynamic
of industries out there. Furthermore,
the spectrum of technological verticals
a reseller can focus on are, literally,
endless. If one spends some valuable
time studying their options, they will
realise that there is room for everyone
to do business. Agility and appetite
to learn are, however, imperative for
accomplishing a successful change.
Competition differentiators
We comprehend the necessity and strive
to add value to our partners’ business
both in the traditional way (decades
of commitment in the region, multigeographical presence, efficient logistics,
proficient team, ethics and compliance
etc.) and in the more modern way, that of
executing IT distribution via proactivity,
reactivity, and adaptability – all being
necessary qualities in the new era of IoT,
services, and the cloud.
Challenges in the region
It is indeed true that markets such as that
of Saudi Arabia and rest of Gulf have been
suffering due to the recent geopolitical
and economic challenges. The IT channel
has also consequently been affected, as
budgets are being shrunk and numerous
projects postponed. Diligent handling of

credit to the channel and solid financial
backup are essential for any distributor
to endure this downturn. Same goes
for the reseller partner channel. Close
coordination with vendors is also critical in
terms of priority alignment.
Distributor support for resellers in ME
Different type of resellers, assuredly,
require different types of support. From
swift logistics, to competitive pricing, to
services and financing – these are only a
few of numerous channel requirements. I
suppose each distributor has their pluses
and minuses but – I can only talk on
behalf of Mindware when I say that – we
continually attempt to satisfy and exceed
all our customers’ needs by carefully
listening to them and by monitoring how
well we do with each of them via our
business intelligence tools. How well we
do is – to be fair – a question only our
customers can answer.
Trends in the channel market
Undoubtedly, the recent global market
consolidation (e.g. Dell-EMC merger) as

Nobody can deny the weak business
environment that is currently upon
us. However, the bold and adaptive
organisations will win market share over
the weak and inflexible ones. Some
will grow, some will shrink, and some
will – inevitably – die. Apart from the
(obvious) geopolitical and economic
state of affairs in the region, vendor
strategies and related tactics will,
certainly, define how well the channel
does during these challenging times
in the Middle East. Perseverance and
adaptability of the channel community
will also be critical.

What have been some highlights within
your Middle East operations?
Redington Value, the value-added
distribution division of Redington Gulf,
is proud to announce its latest fully
functional state-of-the-art solutions centre,
which will be showcased at GITEX
Technology Week 2016 in Dubai.
Called the Red Vault, the centre fully
integrates more than 40 different solutions
from numerous vendors, thereby making
it the only such facility in the region with a
multi-vendor environment.
The innovative new solutions centre
will create a platform for existing and new
partners and customers to get trained in
vendor-authorised training centres.
A soft launch of the
solutions centre was held at the
company’s headquarters in Dubai
in January. The facility is now being
expanded to Redington Value’s branches
in Saudi Arabia, Kenya and Nigeria.
What was the strategy behind setting up
Red Vault?
The strategy behind setting up Red
Vault is to position Redington Value into
playing a much bigger role in speeding
up its partners’ and end customers’ IT
transformation journey. We want to play
a critical role in training and facilitating
transformation among our partners.
Red Vault is an attempt by Redington
Value to create a unique facility within
the industry, especially in this region, for
its partners and customers to get handson experience in the functioning
of every possible mainstream IT
Solutions in a live environment, aided
by a giant display. Connected to our
specialised training centres, the Red
Vault shows technology in action and
brings it closer than ever.

The company’s solutions span across

What is the company’s objective with
Red Vault?
The key milestone that we have for
ourselves is to elevate Red Vault –
the solutions centre and the whole
approach of building solutions – to the

enablement is really at the core of what

Approaching its 20-year anniversary, Trigon’s success has
been built on servicing and supporting its customers. The
firm has recently moved into the digital signage business in
its bid to drive bottom line.

Trigon was established in 1997, and has
gone on to form partnerships with a
range of brands including Samsung, LG,
ViewSonic, Dell, Netgear, Philips, AOC,
Xerox, 3M, Acer, Creative, D-Link, Elo
Touch, Ergotron, AVM, PenPower, Power
Products-Kiosks, BenQ, Mustek and
Transcend.
Market focus
We cater to all four segments of the
market – channel, retail, corporate
and exports. This diversity has allowed
us to grow our revenue and increase
headcounts. Support and services
are often an overlooked area of
channel development. In this cut-throat
environment, high quality support and
services are vital to differentiate yourself,
and that is where Trigon has continued to
capitalise.
In 2003, we were awarded the ISO
9001:2008 certification, and have
experienced two-digit growth every
year, allowing us to open sales offices in
Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
In 2014-15, we floated a dedicated
division to focus on digital signage. The
digital signage market is expected to
grow by 70 percent in the Middle East
region, and the demand from application
areas such as retail and healthcare is
expected to drive the market over the
next five years. We realised that creating
and distributing content via digital signage
serves as an effective marketing tool,
which is expected to spur adoption in
the corporate sector. This has resulted in
a growth of 50 percent higher revenues
during 2014 compared to 2013 from the
SI/corporate segment.
Another highlight of 2014 was our
signing a distribution agreement with
Philips as the authorised distributor for
its entire range of monitors across the
GCC. The new relationship will strengthen
Trigon’s product portfolio and cements our
positon as a dominant display technology
company. We also hope that this will open
up new business avenues like healthcare,
where Philips has a strong presence.

Our objectives for 2017 include continuing
to support our partners to build quality
business, focusing more on our retail
and corporate business segments, as
well as expanding across the region
and developing our logistics and service
centre, with a view to moving it to a much
bigger warehouse.
We will continue to support all our
loyal partners and resellers irrespective
of the business they do with us. We take
care not to overload them with excess
inventories, which can eventually put
pressure on team members.
We will look towards the mobility
business; tablets and smartphones, large
format displays, video walls, interactive
touch and wearable devices. We will
continue to focus on the reseller segment,
retail and corporate organisations,
especially in the healthcare, education,
hospitality and banking industries.
