It is much cheaper than the regular bags on the market and knowing that the product is made of recycled plastic material, it is meant to be water resistant, which is suitable to the liking of the customer. The product is suitable for everyday use since it is lightweight and can carry your essentials and other things accordingly. It guarantees that the product justifies the cost in terms of its quality, functionality and lastly, the product is in line with the fashion trend in the market. For the product to be successful, the team should be knowledgeable about consumer behaviors and what factors influence their buying behavior for us to know the target market of our product. As stated in an article by Chapman (2022), consumer behavior is influenced by these factors: psychological, social, cultural, personal, and economic. As our product focuses on the sustainability of food waste and artistry, here are some of the positive potential for customer impacts. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, the Philippines is known to be the third largest country that produces coconuts with a total of 14,490,923. After its consumption, coconut shells are thrown away in landfills. Since the coconuts decompose after several months up to a year, they are just stored in the landfills and that may cause a problem with the waste segregation. Through this, utilizing coconuts will help to improve life on land. 85% of the 50 billion coconut shells were recognized as waste, and that would be a large portion of the total coconuts. In addition, coconuts were also carbonized to produce charcoal which contributes to the carbon dioxide and methane emission. To reduce the carbon footprints, this business idea will be composed of a product, a lampshade made out of coconut shells with a blue light filter. 1. Distinctiveness and Uniqueness: According to Ku, Chin-Kuo, and Wei Kuo (2012), consumers' purchasing intentions increase when the product is limited. These products tend to have a distinctive or unique feature that increases their demand (Synder, 1992). Since fruit peels have distinct characteristics with each other, the output of the product will have diverse attributes that make This lampshade does not only benefit the environment but also benefits the potential customers. It features a blue light filter which is beneficial to those who study and work at night. Using a lamp without a blue light filter is harmful to the every piece one of a kind. 2. Environmental Awareness and Eco-friendly Approach: Since environmental campaigns and awareness initiatives evolved, so has the consumer's perception of a product. In recent years, consumers who become greener in purchasing increased to 86% (Pope, 2021), and companies would be mindful of the components of their products. The incorporation of fruit peels in the product gathers the attention of consumers who value sustainability and eco-friendly products. Moreover, having a piece of our product increases the sense of environmental consciousness. 3. Artistic Appreciation: The product contains fruit peels that give distinctive texture to each output, enhancing customers' artistic appreciation. In addition, there is eyes of a person. According to Helmer (2022), some research shows a connection between eye damage and short-wave blue light wavelength. Additionally, the health impact of blue light radiation from electronic devices and artificial lighting sources has evolved as society's reliance on digital technology has grown. A study conducted by Chang, et al. (2018) found that using these devices before bedtime extends the time it takes to initiate sleep and reduces the production of melatonin, a hormone that promotes sleep. This implies that prolonged exposure to the blue light emitted by electronic devices can significantly disrupt sleep patterns, and compromise eye health, and overall well-being. Hence, there is a growing demand for devices that prioritize the reduction of blue light exposure for individuals. In conclusion, this business idea will not only solve the problem of waste segregation in our country but also reduce the suffering of people from eye strain and sleep deprivation. an interaction between the product and the consumer because of the additional texture and smell of the fruit peels imprinted in the pottery. 4. Educational Value: The incorporation of fruit peels in organic clays is not a traditional component of pottery clay, which will increase curiosity about the production of the product. Moreover, curiosity may lead to the discovery of techniques that will be more sustainable and eco-friendly in making pottery. To summarize, it is important to know the market trend in the industry and environmental campaigns because this affects the satisfaction of the consumers. Business Impact The course of action taken in conducting the business corresponds to the effectiveness and usability of the product to the customers. The product ensures that it could provide great benefits to the customers due to the reason that the product is eco-friendly. Its production The pottery industry in the country is large-scale. Based on the latest report, there is an increase in profit after a four-year consecutive decrease. In addition, the industry has had a significant amount of imports and exports in the past year. 82% of the total exports come The product is made by repurposing waste materials and is made from a renewable and abundant resource which is coconut shells. This practice promotes environmental sustainability, as coconut shells take nearly a year to totally decompose. A survey conducted by is expected to be efficient along with the product being produced in good quality. The product could also increase the popularity of the business as we market it through various social media platforms and could reach our target customers in a wide range. from Japan, while the United States comes second and Ireland comes third with an accumulated 2.3% share of exports. On the other hand, China is the major supplier of the country's imports. With this statistical data, entering this industry can be both challenging and have a positive impact on the field. Since the product focuses on sustainability and artistry, here are some positive influences that the business can experience. 1. Product Differentiation: The uniqueness of the product by using fruit peels as a component of pottery clay gives the business a competitive advantage over other markets in the same industry. Moreover, the product has the potential to gather artistic awards and recognition because of its innovativeness and artistry. 2. Niche Targeting: The product consists of organic components that promote sustainability and eco-friendliness; it attracts a specific market segmentation. The product can attract consumers who value their environmental beliefs - green consumerism. 3. Brand Image: Fruit peels in pottery clay are not well McKinsey & Co. in 2020 showed that nearly 7 out of 10 individuals consider the sustainability aspect of a product when making a purchase. The study revealed that consumers now align themselves with brands and products that are compatible with their values and priorities. This could serve as a competitive advantage for our product as it might have a strong appeal to individuals who want to lower their carbon footprint. Also, using a rechargeable lamp consumes 80% less energy than a traditional lamp would consume. To sum this up, making use of the coconut as a lamp is truly an environment-friendly approach that gained popularity throughout the years. Not just any regular coconut lamp, the business idea consists of a unique feature and that is the blue light filter. This would be an advantage of the business over others since it is not just aesthetically pleasing in the eyes but also beneficial. The production of the product will involve several key steps, from sourcing materials to assembly. The main material, which is coconut shells, can be sourced from local suppliers or coconut facilities. There are 2.5 million coconut farmers in the Philippines (Vancouver Philippine known as a great alternative or addition in pottery clay. Once the product is out of the market, it will create an image of our brand as an innovative and environmentally friendly business. 4. Social Responsibility: Once the product is established, it opens different opportunities, such as partnering with local farms and small-scale fruit suppliers. Also, collaborating with small artists by assigning them to create designs for the pottery will help them promote their brand and the product itself. Consulate General, 2020) and we can support their livelihood by sourcing the materials directly from them. Furthermore, the production process includes the removal of the husks from the coconut. Just like the coconut shell, those husks removed will not be treated as mere waste but rather make use of it as an Eco Board. Those Eco Boards will be donated to those schools with inadequate facilities both in the urban and rural areas to help improve the quality of education of the students as part of our business ethics and social responsibility. Thus, customers will not only be interested because of the product features and On the other hand, here are aesthetics but also because of some of the challenges that its possible impact on both the the product may face. environment and society. 1. Production Cost and Material Sourcing: Due to inflation, production cost increases, and since the team uses fruit peels, which is an organic material, it will be difficult to obtain because of the seasonality of the fruits. 2. Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the brand complies with every regulation the government imposes. Potential Improvement 1. The product must be Given the evolving nature of Given that the utilization of improved by offering natural resources, this coconut shells as lamps is different kinds of bags that could be use by various ages. 2. The product must provide more design that is suitable not only for girls but also for boys alike. 3. The product must be improved in its capacity and size that would be more convenient for the customer to use. product has a high potential for improvement. In addition, the texture of one fruit is distinct from another, contributing to a sense of individuality. The uniqueness of the fruits with each other makes the product open for improvement. Since the output of using organic clay in pottery will depend on the texture that fruit peels imparted (Borgers, 2020), the team can conduct several tests and research to elevate the product to the next level. Furthermore, as the country is facing inflation, production costs are high. With this, the team cannot guarantee that there will be a profit. As a result, the reduction of production costs is a must without sacrificing the quality of the product. beneficial for both the environment and society, there are still parts of it that need improvement. 1.Flammability of the Coconut Shell – This can be addressed by applying fire-retardant coatings to the surface of coconut shells to help reduce their flammability, such as the DC360 intumescent paint, which is usually used to increase fire resistance on combustible wood surfaces. Additionally, another possible option is the use of Diammonium Phosphates can help reduce the flammability of the coconut shells. However, further study should be looked at to ensure the effectiveness of the usage of DAP. 2.Long Production Process – Since the production involves various key steps, it would take a long time to produce a single coconut lamp to be sold. Reasonably, coconut shells can vary widely based on factors like size, thickness, hardness of the shell, and the tools or equipment used. Larger and thicker coconut shells may require more time to be smoothened. 3.Need for Skilled Workers – Through the continuous changes in the composition of the preferences of the customers, they might want more innovative designs for the coconut lamp which may involve carving. Thus, more skilled workers are needed especially in the field of carving. 4.Useful Life - The target lifespan of the product may be shorter compared to its counterparts due to the organic materials used in its production. Even though there would be preservatives to be used to preserve the quality of the material, further study needs to be conducted to be aware of how long the preservation of coconut shells would last. Potential Feasibility In 2021, a study shows that 80% of plastic waste comes from the river. As we all know, Philippines has become one of the most plastic-polluted regions in the world wherein Pasig River outrank the China`s Yangtze River in the year 2017. This problem causes an alarming disturbance in the ecological well-being of the environment, thus various organizations are emerging to lessen the negative impact of this hazardous phenomenon. It revealed that 75% of Filipino shoppers seek out brands that offers ways to offset their environmental impact. The product could be a great help in addressing the community The use of fruit peels as a component in making pottery is highly feasible; however, these factors must be accounted for. 1. Fruit Compatibility: There are different kinds of fruits, and not all are compatible as a component of organic clay. The compatibility of the fruit peel and the traditional clay is essential to achieve a workable and cohesive organic clay. 2. Fire Compatibility: Since the process of pottery includes baking or firing it, the fruit peels should be compatible because some peels may burn off, and Coconut shells are easy to source since the Philippines is the third country that produces a huge number of coconuts. Many local businesses in the country make use of the coconuts as their own products such as charcoal, bowls, candles, oils, and others. This proves that utilizing coconut shells as a product for a business idea is truly feasible. The lamp made from coconut shells with a blue light filter has promising potential feasibility due to its alignment with growing consumer trends and needs. This product will be able to answer and solve different problems of society nowadays with regard to the ecosystem and the health of an individual. Innovativeness problem with plastic waste this will affect the end materials. It could also help product. the government protect 3. Testing: It is essential mother nature by doing this since fruit peels have kind of business. different textures and longevity; each piece should have a different ratio of the mixture. In addition, fruit peels alter the color, durability, structure, etc., which is why thorough testing is an essential process in this product. 4. Longevity: As stated in the previous number, fruit peels have different longevity. Some may take three months, a year, or weeks to decompose one fruit peel. Knowing the longevity of the fruit peels will determine the long-term durability of the product. It capitalizes on the increasing demand for eco-friendly and health-friendly products, offering a unique alternative that appeals to environmentally and health-conscious individuals. However, successful implementation requires careful consideration of production costs, scalability, and safety measures, as the flammability and the production process of coconut shells are potential weaknesses. Also, further study for product improvement must be done in order to serve a quality product for the benefit of the people. With proper market positioning, market targeting, and proper advertisement and promotion of the product, this lamp has the potential to tap into a niche market and gain recognition among consumers seeking sustainability, and well-being nowadays. To sum it up, a coconut shell as a lamp with a blue light filter is feasible, but there are some factors that need to be considered and this would be addressed through proper business planning. This product is made of 100% plastic that is compressed into layers and turned into a fashion bag. It is inspired by the eco bag products commonly made What sets the product apart from competitors is its ability to address multiple consumer needs in a single product. Firstly, its design, being crafted from coconut shells, Traditionally, pottery clays are composed of clay soil that can be found on the earth's surface, containing water, organic material such as humic acids, and metal by the people. The production of the product uses LDPE #4 recycling kind of material which can easily be recycled and turned into many products such as Trash Liners, Plastic Decking, Marine Pilings and many more. The use of this LDPE plastic makes it safe to use in recycling materials due to the absence of toxins when it was recycled. Thus, the product is first in the market. oxides (Lesley, n.d). Corresponding to this, among the waste by-products generated by the fruit industry (peels, seeds, and skins), fruit peels are at least 20% of the fresh fruit weight. Using fruit peels as a component of pottery clay can be considered innovative since it is not a traditional component of pottery clay. In addition, fruit peels are only used on a small scale since mass production of this kind of clay is complicated because of its delicateness. Moreover, this component creates texture to the output of pottery, which leads to different results since each fruit peel has a unique texture that increases the creativity and uniqueness of the product. As stated in the Manila Bulletin (2023), an estimated 1,717 metric tons of food are wasted each day in the country. Including fruit peels as one of the components of organic clay can help reduce the wasted food in the country. This product may not eradicate the problem but only lessen it; it can be the start of new development techniques in the pottery industry. offers a unique aesthetic that distinguishes it from conventional lamps. Secondly, its commitment to sustainability by repurposing waste coconut shells aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly decor. Thirdly, the integration of blue light filtering technology caters to the pressing concern of blue light radiation that causes sleep disruption and eye strain, enhancing its value in today's tech-driven world. Additionally, the coconut husks that were removed from the shell would be used to help students with inadequate quality education. Lastly, it is a rechargeable lamp that consumes less energy and is very portable that consumers can bring it to wherever they want to. References Admincraft. (2023).
