ASSIGNMENT PROTECTED CULTIVATION 2022-23 NATURALLY VENTILATED POLYHOUSE Submitted to: Dr. Kailash Sati Submitted by: Gaurav Chaudhary (33) Ishika Gupta (38) Kartikey Saraswat (40) Komal Tiwari (42) Manish Kumar (46) NATURALLY VENTILATED POLYHOUSE What is a greenhouse? Any structure which works on greenhouse gases principle is known as as greenhouse. What is a Naturally ventilated polyhouse? These polyhouses do not have any environmental control system except for the provision of adequate ventilation and fogger system to prevent basically the damage from weather aberrations and other natural agents. Compare to shade net house, Naturally Ventilated Poly House has a plastic roof made from UV stabilized covering materials of Polyethylene film which protect from direct rainwater and cold in winter with air ventilation. Naturally Ventilated Polyhouse is suitable for the cultivation of flowers like Dutch-roses, gerbera, carnation, anthurium and exotic vegetables like broccoli, coloured capsicum, cherry tomato, cucumber and medicinal plants. Naturally Ventilated polyhouse structure mostly use in India, in crop Vegetables as like cucumber, capsicum and tomato and floriculture, this is the most basic and traditional type of polyhouse. In this type, there is very minimal control of climatic change. Your plants and crops are mainly at the mercy of the climatic conditions prevailing outside. Although there are a few helping aids like foggier, drip irrigation system, ventilation control polyhouse, and pest control system, they are still not enough to yield off-season crops. polyhouse cost 844 Rs. Per square meter in 1 acre polyhouse cost 33,76,000 Rs. Natural ventilated polyhouse top side one meter ventilation for polyhouse to hot air outside in polyhouse. Principle of naturally ventilated polyhouse The main principle on which naturally ventilated polyhouse works is, movement of hot air is downward to upward direction and replacement of this space occurs due to the movement of hot air is done by cool air. In this type of polyhouse, rolling system of polyethylene sheet is used. Also, insect proof net is used to check the entry of insects when polythene sheet is rolled upwards and provide the favourable environment for crop cultivation. Advantages of naturally ventilated polyhouse Can grow crops throughout the year and will not have to wait for any particular season. There are less pests and insects in a polyhouse. External climate will not have any impact of the growth of crops. Quality of produce is obviously higher in polyhouse. Good drainage and aeration Propagation of Ornamental Crops can also be done effortlessly in a polyhouse. It also increases yield for about 5 to 10 times. Less cropping period Fertilizer application is easier and is controlled automatically with the help of drip irrigation. Cost of construction (per acre) Naturally ventilated polyhouse cost in 1 acre is around 32 lakh and after 50 % subsidy by the central government, it reduces to 16 lakhs. After adding around Rs 1 lakh for some miscellaneous charges it becomes Rs 17 lakh yes this is the figure that you have to pay for 1-acre natural ventilated polyhouse. Hence, we can say the cost of 1-acre natural ventilated polyhouse is Rs 17 lakh The polyhouse does not demand for extra charges till 4 years but after 4 years you should change the entire polythene of the polyhouse because the anti-property of the polyethene dies after 3.5 to 4 years.
