What is effective listening?
 Learners play a communication game in which listening is an important skill, for example ‘Telephone
Whispers’
 Lead a class discussion to identify the reasons for the success or breakdown in communication in the
games, highlighting the importance of attentiveness in effective communication, and of communicating
in a way accessible to the audience.

 In pairs, learners to answer one of the following questions:
1. How can paying attention contribute to a successful team?
2. What are the qualities of an effective team member?
Ask learners allocated question 1 to work together to create a display to show their findings.
Learners allocated question 2 will collaborate to create a separate display.
These displays will support learners to evaluate their contribution to teamwork later in the Challenge.
