Learners play a communication game in which listening is an important skill, for example ‘Telephone Whispers’ Lead a class discussion to identify the reasons for the success or breakdown in communication in the games, highlighting the importance of attentiveness in effective communication, and of communicating in a way accessible to the audience. • What happened to the message? • What would happen if the message was really important? • What caused the problem? • How can we improve communication? How can paying attention contribute to a successful team? 2. What are the qualities of an effective team member? Ask learners allocated question 1 to work together to create a display to show their findings. Learners allocated question 2 will collaborate to create a separate display. These displays will support learners to evaluate their contribution to teamwork later in the Challenge.
