Your Name (Student ID):谢嘉楠(12110714) Class No.4 10/6/2022 Reflection on Two Cases of Plagiarism Recently, plagiarism is becoming a hot topic among students in college. In pursuit of higher GPA, more and more students tend to get a satisfactory mark by plagiarism. And even a research shows that students who do not understand university plagiarism policy and use e-Books are more likely to plagiarize by coincidence(Amida, Ademola,2022). According to MLA handbook for writers of research papers (1995),“To use another person's ideas or expressions in your writing without acknowledging the source is to plagiarize. ” Plagiarism is generally against morality, and sometimes even breaks the law. Hence, we college students are supposed to reflect on others’ cases of plagiarism and firmly avoid to plagiarize. In February 2019, Zhai Tianlin, a famous actor, was questioned about the authenticity of his doctoral degree because he did not know what CNKI was when answering questions from netizens in the live broadcast. Before long, ministry of education attached great importance to it and investigated his dissertation at once. Finally, he was confirmed that he had plagiarized in his dissertation. On February 19, 2019, the Beijing Film Academy released a statement on the progress of the investigation on Zhai’s plagiarism and other issues, and announced the revocation of Zhai Tianlin's doctoral degree and Chen's doctoral director qualification, who is Zhai’s doctoral supervisor. However, if he spared no efforts on his doctorate, even if he finally failed to obtain it , he would make great progress on his performance skills. It is his performance in the film that reflects his competence as a actor rather than a doctorate of fraud. 1 Actually, there was a incident of plagiarism in my DSAA class last week. Someone did not know that he was required to use draft paper which was provided by teacher when taking inclass quiz. And he was spotted by teacher that he was using his own draft paper. As a result, he scored 0 in this quiz. In this case, obviously,he plagiarized just because he had not learned the principle of plagiarism when doing a quiz. If he had known that, this incident of plagiarism would have not happened. In conclusion, we should keep away from plagiarism, which will result in terrible penalty once being spotted. And an important way to avoid plagiarism is learning about the principle of plagiarism and studying harder without thoughts like taking shortcuts. Reference:Amida, A., Appianing, J., & Marafa, Y. A.
