POPULATION CHARACTERISTICS POPULAT ION -a group of individuals of the same species inhabiting an area. -characteristic of a population are: 1.Natality 2.Mortality 3.Sex ratio 4.Age distribution 5.Growth rates 6.Special distribution NAT ALIT Y or BIRT H RAT E • refers to the number of individuals added to the population through reproduction. It is the number of individuals born per one thousand individuals in the population per year • it is expressed in this equation: MORT ALIT Y or DEAT H RAT E • the number of deaths per year.
