Abuela (Ab): ¡Ay, bendito! ¡Qué alegría tenerte de vuelta, mi amor! How was your flight?
Nieta (Ni): It was great, Abuela! El vuelo fue smooth, y the weather here is mucho mejor than
in the States.
Tía (T): ¡Hola, familia! I can't believe you're finally here. Nieta, you've grown so much. ¿Cómo
estás?
Ni: I'm good, tía. Extrañaba mucho la comida de aquí, ya sabes.
Ab: Sí, sí. You can never beat the flavor de la comida puertorriqueña. Tía, did you bring any of
those yanqui dulces que nos encantan?
T: Of course, Abuela. I brought some Reese's y M&M's. But don't worry, I también brought
some pasteles and arroz con gandules.
Ni: ¡Gracias a Dios! I missed that so much. Nothing compares to Puerto Rican food.
Ab: And what about the Christmas decorations, ¿están ready?
T: Oh, absolutely. I've got the Christmas lights and decorations listo para ponerlos. We'll have
the house looking like a winter wonderland.
Ni: That sounds amazing. I brought some decorations from the States too, para darle un toque
gringo a la Navidad puertorriqueña.
Ab: Eso está bien. Un poquito de both worlds never hurts. Pero, por favor, que no falten los
coquito y el lechón en la mesa.
T: Don't you worry, Abuela. Coquito y lechón will be the stars of the show. And I also bought
some Christmas cookies from the bakery.
Ni: Perfecto. I can't wait to share Christmas with la familia. It's been too long.
Ab: It sure has, mi amor. Now, let's get ready for the fiesta navideña. ¡Bienvenidos a casa!
