JOONGBU UNIVERSITY END OF SEMESTER REQUIREMENTS FALL 2019 REQUIRED ACTIVITIES ◼Enter your grades on the Joongbu website (성적입력). ◼Organize student work into folders. All student work must be properly labeled with Student name (in Korean), student ID number, class code, and type of assessment. ◼Submit a copy of grades (printed from Joongbu website) to Team Leaders. These papers must be signed. ◼Show your class folders to Team Leaders, who will check for any mistakes. ◼Submit a Vacation Plan to Team Leaders. DATES (CONFIRM DATES WITH YOUR TEAM LEADERS) ◼Grade entry: December 9-18 ▪ Enter grades on Joongbu website ▪ You must complete this by 5 p.m. on December 20. The system may close at that time, preventing you from entering any grades. ◼December 23-27 ▪ Complaint week ▪ If necessary, change any grades. ▪ Print out the grades from the website by December 27. You may not be able to access this information after this date. ◼December 27 ▪ End of Semester Meeting, time 10am STUDENT FINAL GRADES ◼ The curve allows up to 30% of students to receive an “A”, 40% a “B”, and 30% a “C” or lower. You are not required to give the maximum allotted number of “A’s” or “B’s”. However, if you are giving students more “C’s” than required, or are failing a large number of students, you may need to readjust your standards and expectations. ◼ Foreign students may not be included when determining the allotted number of grades. ◼ Classes with fewer than 10 students are subject to a different curve, 50% “A” and 50% “B”. ◼ 제이수 ▪ Students labeled as such on the Joongbu website are retaking their English class. The highest grade they can receive is a “B+”. ◼ Assessment Values ▪ Attendance 20%, Homework 10%, Participation 10%, Midterm Exam 30%, Final Exam 30% ATTENDANCE SCORES ◼ After final exams, you may not be able to access class attendance information via the app. You can access this info from the following website: http://attend.joongbu.ac.kr/jbu/online ◼ 4 absences = automatic “F” ▪ If students fail due to attendance, you should enter a “0” for all assessment criteria on the Joongbu website, even if they did some of the work. ◼ 3 late = 1 absence ◼ For each unexcused absence, five points should be subtracted from their attendance score ▪ 1 absence = 15/20 ▪ 2 absences = 10/20 ▪ 3 absences = 5/20 ATTENDANCE SCORES (4TH YEAR STUDENTS) ◼ The university will send out an email with a list of 4th year students who have jobs. These students should receive a perfect 20/20 on their attendance score. They are not exempt from doing the required coursework. ◼ You should contact these students directly. They may not be aware that they are required to complete the exams, homework, etc. By contacting these students in advance you can avoid situations in which a student is in danger of not graduating because he/she was not aware of the class requirements. You can find the students’ phone numbers on the attendance sheet. ENTERING GRADES (THIS SLIGHTLY VARIES SEMESTER BY SEMESTER) * The scores you input into the website must exactly match the score written on the student work! Do not forget to save Attendance: 0-20 Homework: 0-10 Midterm: 0-30 Final: 0-30 Participation: 0-10 Print and sign two copies. One goes into the class folders. The other should be given to Team Leader. GRADES FROM WEBSITE ◼ Two copies of the grades need to be printed out from the website. Print out directly from the website. Not landscape mode. Not two-sided. It should look exactly like this example. ◼ Save a copy to your computer. You may not be able to access this info during complaint week. ◼ One copy goes in the class folders, the other goes to your team leader. ◼ These forms must be signed. PROPER LABELING OF STUDENT WORK ◼All student work must include: ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ Student Name (in Korean) Student # Course # Year Assessment Type Grade ▪ The grade must match the grade you entered on the Joongbu website. For exams, the score must be from 0-30. No half points! PROPER ORDERING OF STUDENT WORK ◼Each individual student’s work must be stapled together in the following order: ▪ Midterm Exam ▪ Final Exam ▪ Homework ◼Student work will go into the class folders. CLASS FOLDERS Individual class folders must be labeled with: ◼ Teacher’s name ◼ Course code ◼ Year ◼ Semester PROPER ORDERING OF CLASS FOLDERS ◼Each individual class folder should consist of: ▪ The grades printed out from the website ▪ The attendance sheet used that semester ▪ All student work (midterm, final, homework) ▪ Student work should be ordered as they appear on the attendance sheet 1st student in the folders 1st student on the grade sheet SEMESTER ENVELOPES ◼ All individual class folders must go into envelopes.
