Why did you select your current academic program? Consider both internal and external influences. I've strategically opted for Cyber Security as my academic pursuit after navigating diverse avenues in college. While initially attracted to nursing for its promises of job security and financial stability, I pivoted towards software development only to find it excessively demanding and competitive. My STEM major at community college provided a platform to delve into various fields. Despite facing challenges with the structure of an online class due to the disruptions caused by COVID-19, I proactively pursued and obtained my CompTIA A+ certification independently with the help of professor Messor and Professor Dion on YouTube. Internal influences Internally, my decision was motivated by the desire to embark on a career that offered a swift trajectory to a six-figure salary and provided job security. Additionally, a key internal factor was my eagerness to kickstart my life at a young age, aiming to contribute to my parents' retirement and alleviate the burden of the mortgage on our house. External Influences The impact of Covid-19 served as a wake-up call, prompting me to take decisive action. Delving into research on the job market for cyber security, I discovered the undeniable shift toward digital security in a world where businesses rely heavily on the internet. Recognizing the perpetual demand in this field, I was motivated by the assurance that digital asset security is paramount. Furthermore, understanding the substantial financial rewards associated with ensuring such security, I realized the lucrative opportunities that lie ahead. Aligning with economic trends, my findings indicate a projected 33% increase in the job market for cyber security by 2030, solidifying my confidence in the future prospects of this dynamic and essential field.
