In recent years, the rise in the manufacture of retail products has led to the destruction of the environment. The problem is caused by many factors which can be broken down into two main categories: resource depletion and untreated waste disposal. One main reason for the production increase is the growing global population resulting in a corresponding demand for household items. In response to the rising trend manufacturers continuously try to exploit existing ones to their full potential, destroying ecosystem balance along the way. For instance, in 2020, a survey conducted by UNEP showed that consumer goods production was equivalent to the level of air and water pollution in observed countries. Furthermore, more single-use products are introduced, making recycling even more difficult. In short, the growing populace is the number one cause of environmental destruction.
