Title: The Story of a Seed I've been imprisoned in this dark place for a long time. When will I get out of here? I hear various sounds outside, but I can't see where they're coming from. "Twit! Twit! Twit!" The sound is beautiful, but I can't see anything. "Joey, catch the ball!" "I caught it, Dad! Yay!" The voices sound joyful. Who are they? I want to see everything that's happening. I don't want to be here... I don't like this dark place. "Dad, that avocado looks ripe." I hear the voices again. It seems like they're getting closer to me. "Yes, it's ripe. I'll pick it for you," says a deep, low voice. Oh! I'm moving! What's happening? "Here's the avocado. Do you want to eat it, son? I'll open it for you," says the big, low voice. "Yes, yes. I want to eat it," says the small, high-pitched voice. The light is blinding! I immediately see the faces of the voices I heard. The small, highpitched voice belongs to the child Joey. The big, low voice belongs to his father. "The avocado is delicious, Dad!" Joey says happily while eating the ripe fruit. "Joey, look at the seed of the avocado. It's huge! I've never seen a seed this big before!" the father says in surprise. But the size doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I'm out of my dark prison. It's beautiful outside. Bright, beautiful, and colorful! Thank goodness! I'm still being carried by the father. He is delighted, showing me to his friends. "That's a unique seed, buddy. It will surely grow into a beautiful tree." I don't understand what the people are saying. What's unique? What tree? Oh well. What matters now is that I'm no longer in that dark place. But what is the father doing? He's digging into the ground. And he's putting me in that hole! "I don't want this! I don't want to be in the dark! Let me go!" But no one hears me. I can't hear anything either. Dark, cool, and quiet is this place. It's better when I was inside the fruit because I could hear what was around me. Now, I can't hear anything. Why am I being punished like this? I don't want to be here... Hu-hu-hu! After a few days, I notice a change in me. A green thing is coming out of my body. There are tiny, thread-like things coming out too. And they're getting longer. What is this? "Dad, the avocado we planted has leaves now!" Joey's voice says again. I can hear again! And I can see the world again! Joey and his father are watering me. It's called watering, I understand now. I can see them again. Yehey! "You're now a little tree," says the neighboring suha tree. "You're lucky. That father and son are kind and caring to plants," it adds. Every day, many beautiful things happen to me. My leaves multiply, and I grow taller! There are bird nests on my branches. I always watch Joey and his father playing ball. Until Joey stops playing with the ball because, like me, he grows and becomes taller. Joey is now a young man. And I start to bloom. Joey takes even better care of me. Until my flowers turn into small fruits that grow a little bigger every day. "Joey, it seems like the avocado fruits are ripe." I hear Joey's father's voice again. "Yes, Dad. I'll climb up and get them," Joey says. But it's different now. Joey is taller than his father. "Here it is, would you like to eat it here? I'll open it for you." Joey says. "Sure," says the old man. "Wow! The avocado is delicious. And the seed is huge." And this is the beginning of a new life for a tree.
