Here are two comments from young people about this idea: It‛s not fair to blame teachers if I‛m lazy. I think that teachers are the only people who can make me do well. While an increasing number of students claim that teachers are responsible for their academic failures, I believe nothing could be further from the truth. Firstly, it is my core belief that parents are accountable for the success of their children at school. The fact that good grades rely on the efforts made at home and work habits instilled by parents is as plain as a pikestaff. Therefore, it is only common sense that a child who has encouraging and exemplary parents will most assuredly reach the pinnacle of obtaining education. Parents surely show the way to their children. Apart from parents, the students themselves also have a responsibility to study as they can dictate their own future. It is rightly said that “you can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.” Hence, irrespective of the quality of teachers, their efforts will go in vain if the students are negligent and irresponsible. A hardworking and willing student will definitely beat all odds to excel in academics. In conclusion, it is my unwavering credence that teachers cannot be solely held responsible for our failure in school as academic success comes through collaborative efforts from teachers, students and parents. ©ibatefl.com 2017
