Name: Oyelade Eriwa Assignment: Critical Reflection 1. 1. During these weeks in teaching, I struggled with familiarizing myself with the students to get comfortable to talk to me about whatever challenge they have. Of course, I’m willing to help but not when they are unwilling to talk or feeling hesitant. I think this has been greatly reduced, while walking around the class during Aleks, I try to give a thumbs up for completion of each sections, also, I try to know their names and ensure to call them rightly to ask leading questions that will make them talk to me, like, why do you think this next step is right to get the final answer, etc… also, assisting them to correctly use their cards to check in and out, some turn the cards upside down. 2. A really great conversation was created when we had to ask them questions on how to use the open lab, how to complete their knowledge checks and lastly how to send an email to ask questions on any related academic issues with emphasis on encouraging them about office hours. There were candies for those who answered some questions rightly. Like where is the open lab? How long are you to work on Aleks etc..
