Speeding up production
Henry Ford was the person who invented mass production and the first to use it in building Ford
Motor vehicles. When cars first came out they were handmade, one at a time, and very
expensive. Henry Ford wanted everyone to be able to own a motor car, so in 1908 he developed
a method of making the cars move along a conveyor belt system. Workers were able to stand
alongside the conveyor belt and add parts to the car shell as it passed their station. By speeding
up the manufacturing process Mr. Ford produced many more cars in the same time his
competitors took to produce one car. His production costs were much lower and so his cars were
sold at the lower price this was the start of the Ford Motor Company that is still producing Ford
Motor vehicles today.
