Inspection instructions
This service guide shows you how the parts relevant to load securing from Schmitz Cargobull are checked properly
and correctly. This inspection only relates to vehicles issued with a load securing certificate (structural rigidity certificate)
VDI 2700 / EN 12195-1 EN 12642 (code XL).
All technical details, descriptions and images in this document or any of its supplements are valid at the time of going to
print.
We reserve the right to make changes as a result of continuous development.

Description
Checking the parts relevant to load securing.
The following instructions are to be considered as a continuous description. They provide the most comprehensive
information possible.
Vehicles equipped with a load securing certificate (structural rigidity certificate) in compliance with VDI 2700 / EN 121951 EN 12642 (code XL) must undergo an annual inspection.
This type of vehicle can be identified by the sticker.

Service and maintenance booklet
How to check these parts relevant to load securing is documented in the service and maintenance manual that was
supplied with the vehicle on delivery. Otherwise the load securing certificate (structural rigidity certificate) will be
invalidated!

Inspection work
Semi-trailers with a load securing certification (structural rigidity certification) must be inspected annually in
compliance with the detailed listed below.
The components

of the box body must be connected to each other by means of connecting profiles.
Fixing positions on the bulkhead
► Check the fixings in the connecting profile from the bulkhead to the side wall.

Adhesive connections on the roof and sides
► Check the connecting profile adhesive connections are in a perfect technical condition (visual inspection).
Fixing positions on the rear wall frame
Lock fastenings and hinges
► Check to ensure that all fixings and rivets are in place and are a tight fit.
► Retighten the fixings and rivets whenever necessary.

Door hinges
Door hinge FP45 and FP60
► Check all door hinges.
There are three levels of wear on the door locks:
1. Wear on the end surfaces of the brass bushings from grinding on the hinge bearing,
2. Deflection of the bearings (inside) with wear on the hinge bolts and
3. Bearings are totally worn with damage to the hinge plate or the bearing plate is seriously ground down.
Repair options
Case 1 and 2: The bushings and hinge bolts can be renewed if the bushings still stay firmly secured.
Case 3: The repair can only be made by replacing all the hinge plates and bolts.
Door locks
Door lock
The door locks are manufactured and tested according to the strictest quality standards. As with all mechanical
equipment, the locks may be subject to loads that undermine their proper functioning.

Transport vehicle loads are particularly difficult to assess as they depend on many different influences:
On the type and spatial distribution of the load, the driving conditions and especially on the condition of the road surface.
Information on the maintenance of the locks
1. Dust and dirt residues and ice should be removed regularly as they may prevent the locking latch engaging fully.

2. Make sure that the springs under the locking latch are not damaged.
Connecting profiles on the roof, bulkhead and scuff rails
► Check the adhesive connections on the roof, bulkhead and scuff rails and, if necessary, on the load securing rails,
load securing elements recessed in the side wall etc.

► Check that the adhesive connections on the load securing rails are in a perfect technical condition (visual inspection).

Multifunction floor

► Check the load securing structure (1) of the multifunction floor for wear.
Wear!
Floor wear impairs the load securing force. The clamping bar no longer engages properly into the load securing
structure and may slip.

► Check the lashing ring bolts and tighten the fixings if necessary.

► Check the operation of the partition wall.
