1. Different scales of measurement in statistics:
- Nominal
Example: Gender
- Ordinal
Example: Rank order of runners in a race
- Interval
Example: There is a difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit, but there is no inherent starting point
- Ratio
Example: Product A is worth 100PHP, and product B is worth 200PHP. Product B costs twice as much as
product A.
2. What is a normal curve, skewness, and kurtosis?
- A normal curve is a bell-shaped curve showing a particular distribution of probability over the values of
a random variable. Skewness is a measure of symmetry, or more precisely, the lack of symmetry.
Kurtosis is a measure of whether the data are heavy-tailed or light-tailed relative to a normal
distribution.
3. What is a frequency distribution?
- A frequency distribution is a mathematical function showing the number of instances in which a
variable occurs.
