MODULE 1B - I: “HIV/AIDS AWARENESS” NAME: ALTHEA LYN T. MIRANDA DATE: 09/23/2023 SECTION: H1T PROFESSOR: MS. EVE COLMO QUESTIONS TO ANSWER: 1. What are the differences between HIV and AIDS? Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that destroys the cells of the immune system in humans while Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a disease or condition that is caused by HIV. 2. How is HIV transmitted? HIV can be transferred through person-to-person contact with an HIV-positive person. Most people acquire HIV from unprotected anal or vaginal sex, as well as from sharing needles, syringes, or other drug injection equipment, and it can be acquired during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding since the virus can get from the blood, so an HIV-positive pregnant woman may transfer her virus to the baby. 3. What are the signs and symptoms of a person infected with HIV? Early HIV symptoms may be subtle, or the infected person might experience fever, headaches, vomiting, loss of appetite, and other symptoms. Depending on the infected person's lifestyle, HIV can proceed to AIDS in 5-10 years after getting the virus.
