B.
Outnumbered Americans were able to defeat Britain by using clever tactics. By using just
enough victories to encourage foreign assistance is important to understanding U.S. History. This
is important in knowing how a population can survive and what steps needed to be taken to do
so. The suffering of the civilian population during the war only increased determination not to
submit. (Nash 144) This shows the strength of people and the resilience they possessed to fight
for freedom.
Blacks gained little by fighting in the war although the British. The British, did free some
slaves and evacuate some from the south. (Nash147) This is important to recognize that war can
bring about positive changes to society. The after effects of the war caused end of the
importation of slaves. Slavery was no longer an accepted fact of life in many parts.
