MGT 263 Assignment 4 Due date: Thursday November 16th at the start of the scheduled class time. Assignment 4 will require students to utilize theory presented in chapters 5, 6, and 7. The objective of this assignment is to provide evidence of learning and interpretation of the theory to applied practice. Assignment 4 will be worth a potential of 5% of your final grade in MGT 263. Components of the assignment: • Cover page with student name, student number, course, section, and assignment number. • Assignment 4 will be required to be produced as a Word document with 12 point Roman font, and 1.5 line spacing. Content: • Select a topic that is of interest to you from the designated chapters. o Provide a brief explanation of the theory that you have chosen, ensuring that you paraphrase using your own words. • Locate a current (within the last year) news article about an organization/company which demonstrates the theory which you have presented. The article must be about a specific organization/company that is experiencing the theory that you have selected. This article is not to be specifically about the theory that you have chosen, such as a research paper or case study. Chegg and Course Hero will not be able to assist with this assignment. I want you to demonstrate to me, from a real-life example situation, that you understand how the theory is applied in real time. A hard copy of the article must be included in your assignment submission. • Explain how the theory that was presented in the first section of the assignment relates to the article provided. Evidence of learning will be demonstrated by: o Your ability to identify the theory in the article. o Explain how the theory might currently be affecting the organization given the article information, provided with a HR focus. o Discuss the potential future effects on the organization given the material discussed in the article, provided with a HR focus. Correct and complete APA citations are required or a zero grade will be assessed Grading • The assignment will be marked out of 5 using the Rubric as provided below. Score Criteria 5 Shows a complete understanding of theory with no errors; clear explanation of situation, example shows intent, impact and learning. 4 Shows a complete understanding of theory with no errors; does not provide a clear explanation of situation, example lacks depth of intent, impact and learning. 3 Shows a partial understanding of theory with few or minor errors; specific situation explained but evidences only two parts of intent, impact or learning. 2 Shows limited understanding of theory with serious errors that affect the successful explanation of example, example shows only intent or is too general. 1 Shows very little, if not limited understanding of theory with major errors; failure to effectively apply the concepts to a situation, too general to demonstrate applied theory.
