INTRODUCTION Assalamuailaikum and hi! Salam UiTM dihatiku. My name is Nur Sabiha binti Samsuri. I’m from Bukit Mertajam,Penang. I’m taking course Diploma in Business Studies at UiTM Kedah, Cawangan Sungai Petani. I’m so glad to be a part of student in this UiTM. I hope that I can achieve a good pointers and First Graduate Title while I’m studying here. I wish that one day I could be a successful entrepreneur that will contribute benefits to society. The main purpose of why am I doing portfolio is to introduce the students about UED 102 known as study skills. UED 102 will provides the students with learning skills essential for varsity life which should be within each students. In this portfolio, I will present notes from every topics that I have learnt with the help of Madam Ida Normaya Mohd Nasir, who taught me during this subject. 2. TOPIC 1: GETTING READY TO LEARN When we have entered the phase in the university world, the students need to realize that the university world is very different from the school world, not only in terms of the environment but also thinking and maturity are also different when compared to school days. To simplify, the way of studying at university is very different compared to high school. At university, students need to be wise and rational in choosing the best path while we are at university. University also teaches us to understand the basics of life and selfreliance, and even adds knowledge and skills to students. LEARNING STYLE What is Learning Style? Learning styles are a range of methods through which individual people learn most effectively. The concept of learning styles is based on the belief that individuals within groups often acquire knowledge most efficiently through distinct and preferred modalities. VISUAL LEARNERS Visual learners absorb information primarily by seeing it, or by visualising it mentally. They: Are imaginative and can easily picture complex scenarios, images or ideas without reference Enjoy art, aesthetics and the written word Are excellent at spelling Take frequent notes AUDITORY LEARNERS Auditory learners absorb information primarily by hearing it. They: Love verbal instructions and follow them easily Are sensitive to tone of voice, pitch and rhythm Understand and process information by talking it through Would rather record a lesson or lecture than take notes KINAESTHETIC LEARNERS Kinaesthetic Learners absorb information primarily through movement in a physical way. They: Are good at hands-on problem solving Are physically coordinated and good at sport Enjoy expressing themselves physically and may engage in performing arts or dance Struggle with overly abstract or conceptual topics LEARNING STYLE INVENTORY MY SCORE LEARNING INVENTORY As you can see I,m getting the highest for visual and it,s describe as someone who prefers visual learning as the main tool for better understanding in learning. It was perfectly fits. 3. TOPIC 2: GOAL SETTING DEFINITION GOALS Goals are the ends toward which we direct our effort. In other words, goals are things we want to achieve, things we aim for as we pursue a certain course of action. Goals are important in college because they help motivate you to do your work, attend classes, and study for exams. Even though you already may have set some goals for the semester, chances are you thought little about whether those goals were realistic. You can improve your academic performance in college by learning to set goals that motivate you to do well and that increase your chance for success. THE PURPOSES We setting the goals to make sure our path is on the right track and accomplish all the dreams that we,ve been dreaming on. WHAT IS GOAL SETTING Goal setting is a process for thinking about your ideal future and for motivating yourself to turn this vision of the future into reality Reference of applying concept SMART in setting goals SMART concept will always be apply everytime when we’ll try to achieve our goals. Often, individuals or businesses will set themselves up for failure by setting general and unrealistic goals such as “I want to be the best at X.” This goal is vague, with no sense of direction. SMART goals set you up for success by making goals specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. The SMART method helps push you further, gives you a sense of direction, and helps you organize and reach your goals. COURSE: MAT112 STEP 1: I want to get A in subject ACC 106. STEP 2: List of Obstacles 1.I have trouble to understand what class lecturer said in the online class. 2. The class is the morning so I usually feel so sleepy during the class. 3. The reading are long and boring. 4. The book is very boring to read and read. understand. 5. The notes that I take are sloppy and incomplete. 6. There is a vast amount of material covered each day in lecture. . STEP 3: List of Resources 1. I will read the chapter before the started. 2. I will prepare water and some candy during the class. 3. I will break the reading down into 10 pages section each night. 4. I will highlight and take notes as I 5. I will rewrite and edit all of my notes after checking with my classmates. 6. I will study my notes from class on a daily basis for 30 minutes or more STEP 4: I will try to get an A in ACC 106. STEP 5: I will achieve an A in ACC 106.
