The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board
(PCAB) was formed by virtue of RA4566 passed by
Congress
in
1965.
It
was
originally
called
the
Philippine Contractors Licensing Board and fell under the

the
Board
of
Examiners
(now
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
In
1980,
PD1746
created
the
Construction
Industry Authority of the Philippines (CIAP) an attached
agency of the Department of Trade and Industry to
promote, accelerate, and regulate the growth and
development of the construction industry. PCAB was
placed
under
its
jurisdiction.
