Motivation The teacher will show famous tag line from tv advertisements and let the students identify its product. 4. Unlocking of difficulties publicity- advertisement policy- procedure misleading-to give wrong impression deceptive- tending to be false distorted- altered or to twist from true systematically- following a method /arrangement 5. Lesson Proper A. Activity The demonstrator will present the lesson objectives. The teacher will show a video clip on common Filipino tv commercials then proceed to the discussion. Question: 1. What does this video all about? 2. How do these advertisements influence us to buy their products? Propaganda - publicly to promote something: information put out by an organization or government to promote a policy, idea, or cause misleading publicity: deceptive or distorted information that is systematically spread. - It is a form of communication that is aimed at influencing the attitudes, perspectives and emotions of people or communities toward some cause or position by presenting only one side of argument. Basic Propaganda Techniques: 1. Bandwagon - persuading consumers by telling them that others are doing the same thing. 2. Testimonial - when a product is sold by using words from famous peopleor authority figures. 3. Transfer - when a product is sold by the name or picture of a famousperson or thing but no words from the said person or thing. 4. Repetition - when the product‘s name is repeated at least four times inthe ad. 5. Emotional Words - words that will make a consumer feel strongly aboutsomeone or something are used. B. ANALYSIS The teacher will show another video clip from tv commercials. Ask the following questions: Questions: 1. Have you bought the product based on its way of advertising? Why? 2. How do you decide which product to buy or what idea to support? C. ABSTRACTION The students will answer the following questions orally. 1. What did you observe in the presented commercials? 2. Do the commercials affect you in different ways? 3. Which among the three commercials do you like the most? Why? 4. Did the commercials persuade/ encourage you to buy or patronize them product? 5. Which among the 5 characteristics of Commercial No.1 encouraged you tobuy the product? D. APPLICATION The class will be divided into four (9) groups.
