WHO WAS I?
You are 13 (again)! Reflect on yourself at 13 by answering the following questions. How do your
experiences relate to the developmental theories discussed in your text? You do not need to turn this in
or post this questionnaire on the Discussion Forum, but you should refer to some aspects of your
adolescence from these questions when you post.
1. What was your physical appearance like? Were you tall/short, small/large for your age?
Light/heavy for your age?
2. What kinds of things were you doing?
3. At the onset of puberty, were you scared or did you feel alone? How old were you? Were you
excited? Did you experience a change in your attitude about growing up?
4. What was the first thing you remember doing outside of the home, without supervision?
5. Were you a social teen? Who were your friends?
6. How did you get along with your parents, siblings?
7. What were your feelings and emotions like?
8. Who or what had the biggest influence on your sense of self (identity)? What new things did
you learn about yourself? How did this influence your behavior, likes, dislikes, friendships, etc.?
9. What were the popular trends at the time? Did you get involved?
10. What about smoking, drugs and alcohol use among your classmates – did you witness any of
these as a 13-year-old?
Now you’re 18! You’ve graduated from High School. Answer these questions based on your
experiences as an 18-year-old. Note any significant changes between 13 and 18.

2. What kinds of things did you think about? What were your interests in school? What plans were
you making?
3. Do you think you got a good high school education? Do you feel that your high school
experience prepared your for college?
4. How did you solve problems?
5. Were you (are you) working? What kind of job? What other responsibilities did you have?
6. Were you social? Who were your friends? Did you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
7. How did you get along with your parents, siblings? Were you living at home?
8. What were your feelings and emotions like?
9. Who or what had the biggest influence on your sense of self (identity)? What new things did
you learn about yourself? How did this influence your behavior, likes, dislikes, friendships, etc.?
10. What about smoking, drugs and alcohol use? Did any of these impact your life?
11. Were you a parent? Did any of your friends have children?
