Q: As a non-English major teacher, what can you contribute to help achieve the goal of the Language Arts and Multiliteracies Curriculum in English of the K to 12 Basic Education Program in the Philippines? A: As a teacher by profession, one of our duties is to provide quality education to our learners even it is not our area of specialization. Teaching a subject that is not in my area of specialization is a big challenged for me specially when it comes to language subject like English. So as non- English major teacher, I can contribute to help achieve the goal of the Language Arts and Multiliteracies Curriculum in English of the K to 12 Basic Education Program in the Philippines by applying the learnings I learned from trainings and seminars like this “Division Training on Teaching and Learning Pedagogy for Senior High School Teachers in English”. As the “captain of our ship “I must first equip myself the different strategies, teaching pedagogy in teaching English subjects. I will ensure that learners will become more immerse in English subjects by monitoring their progress. Another way that I can contribute to achieve the goal of English Curriculum is by equipping learners with the different 21st century skills that they may use and become globally competitive and to make the learners realize the importance of English Language to our lives. Lastly, and I think the most important duty of a teacher is giving love, care, and support to our learners so that they will be motivated and eager to learn.
