URANUS -Lucas Uranus. A planet you have probably heard of either by a book or internet. But where ever you heard it from you might think its just a planet in the solar system. Although it is a planet, it might surprise you with some information you might never knew. like for example Uranus is 1.78 billion miles away from the sun? Thats why its so cold there. Uranus was first discovered in 1781. German-born English astronomer William Herschel was the first to discover this planet. At first people thought it was a god but in further studies they have concluded it was a planet. Because Uranus is so far away from the sun it takes Uranus about 84 Earth years to rotate around the sun. Thats a long time for a planet to rotate around the entire sun. Uranus is also the third largest planet in the solar system. Thats why they call it an "Ice Giant." Uranus is tipped on its side too. You can see it if you search up a picture of it. And if you havent already knew from pictures it has rings. But mainly its really cold in Uranus, specifically its -320 F. It also smells bad too, becuase of the gasses in Uranuses atmosphere are made up of the smelliest gasses it make Uranus smell horrible. Uranus has a lot of moons. specifically 27,but the five largest are Titania, Oberon, Umbriel, Ariel, and Miranda. Titania is the largest out of all 27 moons. Sadly, humans can not land on Uranus becuase its mostly made up of gasses and liquid. If they did send an space craft to land there there would be nowhere to land, and due to the pressure it would destroy the metal space craft. So the closes thing where going to get is pictures from satellite orbiting Uranus, for now. Uranus is an amazing planet with amazing things to learn about. Personally my favorite thing about Uranus is thats its unique and and has so much then what it looks from the outside. I hope you have learned at least a little more then what you already knew before you read my essay.
