TOPIC: Genres of Academic Writing (124 words)
Academic writing can be divided into different genres; each genre is used
for various purposes as well as structure (Swales & Feak, 2012). Some of
the most common genres of academic writing are essays. According to
Scribbr, essays mainly inform the arguments, and the writer has to analyze
and give evidence to persuade readers of a proposition or perspective
(Scribbr, 2023). For example, there is a writing essay topic from IELTS
Writing task 2 such as computer is being used more and more in education
and they ask the writer to discuss the advantages and disadvantages and
give their own opinion. This kind of essay is an argumentative essay and
it helps to persuade the reader to agree with the writer’s point of view.

the most popular genres is the argumentative essay. According to the
definition on the website, essays mainly inform the arguments, and the
writer has to analyze and give evidence to persuade readers of a
proposition or perspective (Scribbr, 2023). For example, in IELTS
Writing Task 2, has a topic is the increasing use of computers in
education. The candidate or the writer has to discuss the advantages and
disadvantages and then give their own opinion. This kind of essay is an
example of an argumentative essay, and it helps persuade the reader to
agree with the writer’s point of view. In conclusion, argumentative
essays play an important role of academic writing and they help
students to develope their critical thinking as well as to share their
perspectives with others.
