Newton’s second law [law of momentum]
Newton’s second law also referred to as the law of momentum.
He established his second law by concluding it from the principles of
Galilean’s relativity
Acceleration is directly proportional to force and inversely
proportional to mass,if a body is not accelerated there is no force
acting upon it.
F=MA
[force is equivalent to mass and acceleration being multiplied]

Newton’s second law
Newton’s second law is a measurable description of the changes that a force can make on the
motion of a body.
It states that the time , the change of momentum of a body is equal in both magnitude and
direction the force is imposed.
Momentum of a body is equal to the product mass and its velocity.
Momentum and velocity are both vector quantities, now little background on what a vector
quantity is,
It’s basically a quantity with both magnitude and direction.Newton’s second law is one of the
most important law to understand in physics.
For a body whose mass is constant it can be written as F=MA [force acceleration are also both
vector quantities.

How much force, or thrust, must a 30,000-kg jet plane
develop to achieve an acceleration of 1.5 m/s2?
Unbalanced forces applied on an object cause it to accelerate .
The object moves in the direction of the force applied.
For example if we kick a ball it starts moving , the ball accelerates only when your
foot is in contact with it.
What causes an object to accelerate?
Q1.Push on an empty shopping cart. Then push equally hard on a
heavily loaded shopping cart.
The loaded shopping cart will accelerate much less than the empty
cart.Explain why?
Q2. A car has a mass of 1000 kg. What is the acceleration produced
by a force of 2000 N?
Conclusion
Newton’s second law states that the acceleration produced by a net force on an
object is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force and its inversely
proportional to the mass.
acceleration= net force / mass
If the net force acting on an object doubles, its acceleration is doubled.
If the mass is doubled, then acceleration will be half.
If both the net force and the mass are doubled, the acceleration will be unchanged.
