WATER
DEFINITION : Water is a colourless, transparent, odourless liquid that forms the
seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms. It
can also be defined as the clear liquid that has no color, taste, or smell, that
falls from clouds as rain, that forms streams, lakes, and seas, and that is used
for drinking, washing, etc.
SOURCES OF WATER
There Three main sources of water
 Groundwater
 Surface-water:

GROUND WATER
Groundwater is an important natural resource. The precipitation infiltrates into
the ground and travels down until it reaches the impervious stratum where it is
stored as groundwater. It is stored in the pores present in the geological
formations such as soil, rock, sand, etc.It is a source of water that is under the
land surface. It is accessible by wells, tube wells, and hand pumps.
SURFACE WATER
Surface water is any body of water above ground, including streams, rivers,
lakes, wetlands, reservoirs, and creeks. The ocean, despite being saltwater, is
also considered surface wateThis type of source is found on the surface of the
earth like ponds, rivers, streams, creaks etc.
RAIN WATER
Rainwater is the purest form of water obtained from rain. It does not contain
any dissolved solids or dissolved gases and thus is free from impuritiesIt is the
major source of water from rain.
