Today´s asynchronous activity
Social Studies 8th Grade
Situation: National identity is being lost in Ecuador and you are trying to help
other teenagers and students, just like you, to get to know important dates in your
country.
Objective: The students will review the main information about Batalla del Pichincha
and develop a creative product that will help other teenagers in Ecuador
understand the importance of this historical event in our lives.
Instructions :
1. Choose one of the following sources and take notes about “Batalla del
Pichincha” most important information. If you like watching videos, select
source a, but if you prefer to read, select source b.

2. Develop your creative product:
a. Instagram post: Picture or graphic explaining the most important
information about the topic, it can be digital or handmade. You can use
words and phrases too.
Recommendations for digital work: Use CANVA or PPT to create your post, but it
should look like a picture for Instagram.
3. Create a caption for your product with your personal opinion about the
following questions:
a. Why do you think Batalla del Pichincha was important for Ecuadorian
history?
b. What are the feelings we should have, as Ecuadorians, towards this
important event, and why? (pride, hope, patriotism, devotion, alliance
with other citizens, attachment to our homeland)
EXAMPLE OF AN INSTAGRAM POST AND ITS CAPTION:
Caption: This post is to remember the battle that led all Ecuadorians to a new
beginning. We should feel very proud of our country because people fought for
freedom. Now I am happy that we are together and we will have a new beginning
with a new president.
