Theism is the study and comparison of religion. It refers to the
concept of a god and comes from the Greek word Theos.

Poly=More than one
Monotheism is the belief that there is
only one god.
Polytheism is the belief that there is
more than one god.
Major monotheistic religions include:
Judaism, Christianity, & Islam
Polytheistic religions include: Hinduisms,

The key beliefs of the Jewish Faith. Jews and Christians both believe that God gave
Moses the 10 Commandments to guide the Israelites.

also called the Decalogue
and is found in two places in
the Torah and the Christian
Bible’s old Testament. It is
often displayed in two
columns or tablets which
represents the way Moses
received them

for all to see when they
come to worship. Many

display them.

devoted to that particular god.

Karma
Dharma
Refers to the spiritual cause and effect
of a persons actions. Good deeds
equals good karma and will influence
the future happiness of a person.
Refers the behaviors that are expected
of one who practices Hinduism, the
right way to live. In Buddhism, it
refers to the cosmic order of life.

Reincarnation
Reincarnation is the belief that after a person dies, their spirit can begin a new life in a
different body. When the physical body dies, the soul enters one of the 4 kingdoms
until the cycle is complete and they are one with the universe. A person’s Karma
influence where the soul is reborn.

Siddhartha Gautama
Siddhartha Gautama, was a wealthy Indian Prince who did not understand why there
was so much suffering in the world. He began to ask questions about the meaning of
life and took a vow of poverty and spent his time fasting and meditating. He became
the Buddha (Enlightened One). He taught people about the 4 Noble Truths.
Suffering and unhappiness are a part
of life that cannot be escaped
Suffering comes from our desires for
material possessions and we want
things we cannot have
People can overcome ignorance and
reach Nirvana, a state of perfect peace
People can overcome ignorance and
desire by following the 8-fold path that
leads to wisdom and enlightenment
