LESSON PLAN USING ASSURE MODEL 1. Meaning of ASSURE model ASSURE model is a procedure guide planning and delivering instructions that integrates technology and media into the teaching process. It also refers to a systematic approach of writing lessons plan. 1. Analyze Learners This lesson is prepared for students in Form 3 class. This class a population 0f 35 students. There are 10 boys and 25 girls in the class. The students generally enjoy History subject. Learning style in this class vary from auditory to visual . Students have difficulty maintaining focus during class. In order to overcome this issue lessons must be tailored to accommodate the student’s attention span. 1. Objectives Students should be able: Cognitive Define the purpose of communist infiltration. Briefly explain of how communist came to Malaya and Sarawak. Biefly explain the purpose of Communist Party setting up in Malaya Briefly explain the violence and the threat of communism in Malaya. Briefly explain of communist insurgency in Sarawak. Affective Discussing the reasons for the communist ideology is not popular among Malay people. Discussing the effects of 1948 Emergency. Discussing the experience the emergency foster cooperation between races. 1. Selected media Projector : The teacher will use the projector to allow the students to view a movie showing the Malayan Emergency 1948. Speakers : With the aid of the speakers the students will be able to hear the movie clearly. Computer : A computer will be used to run the movie on the overhead projector. Teachers also need to make sure that the video can be displayed without any technical glitches. Preparing the materials. Teachers need to prepare and organize equipment such as computers and projectors before class starts. This is to avoid running out of time in the viewing process. Prepare the environment Teachers need to move the tables and chairs and a projector so that their children can watch videos with clear and there were no disruptions and problems. The projector and speakers should be considered heavy so students can see and hear clearly. Prepare the learners Teachers have told the students will advance to the learning activities for the day. Teacher explains that the video takes in the learning and teaching. After the show, students will receive exercises. 1.5Provide the learning Experience The proposed method of learning is student-centered. After the viewing, students will sit together in a group of friends. In the group, they are required to solve Topic Discussion provided. Students will discuss in their groups and present them in class. 1.6Require learner participation The students are in a group. Together they solve Topic Discussion and will present the topic. 1. Evaluate and revise To know the impact of learning, at the end of the lesson, pupils will be given a worksheet related to the topic of their discussion yesterday. This is to keep track of their understanding of the video delivery. Students were required to answer the exercises given and discuss the answer immediately. Teacher checks students’ answers and discuss in the class.
