Project Management Industrial placement at PepsiCo Michael Oyebanjo 2022/2023 | Mo449@bath.ac.uk | Department of Chemical Engineering PepsiCo is the second largest food and beverage company in the world with a large portfolio of brands. It was founded in 1965 through the merger of Pepsi Cola and Frito-Lay and has come to sell its products in over 200 countries around the world. One of the many companies which are part of it’s portfolio is Walkers which was acquired into the Frito--Lay division in 1989. I am situated at the Walkers Leicester manufacturing site. Project Life cycle Role: Project management Intern in Central Technical Services, Execute team. Responsibilities: • Building High level timelines thus allowing the prioritisation of relevant actions • Organising installations to coincide with engineering days to minimise required downtime • Communicating request clearly and supervising contractors to ensure that the work is done to the highest standard • Designing and plotting layouts for new pieces of equipment on site to minimise time wasted when the kit is operational Highlights Visiting different Sites over the UK including : Cupar, Reading, Lincolnshire and Skelmersdale. Completing the installation and commissioning of my first project. Presenting innovative product idea with team of interns to experts in dragons den-esque manner. Top Tips & Reflections for placement Key Skills developed • Always ask questions when in doubt, you aren’t expected to know everything. • Set up regular meetings with your manager at the start of your placement to discuss your work and feedback • • When working in a team or you are in a meeting summarise your actions and relay it - Risk management + Project managing -Organisation, action tracking and planning -Communication + collaboration -Presentation -Critical thinking + Problem solving Discuss your workload with your manager whether to little or large Faculty of Engineering & Design
