Duke of Edinburgh—Reflection For the DofE task in general, our team tried to balance the workload between everyone, and strived to complete each task thoroughly whilst having fun too. However, there were times that the team couldn’t work as efficiently as possible and the work wasn’t distributed as evenly as it could have been, where one of the team members were unable to attend meetings due to other commitments. When all of the team members were present and on the call, we decided what we would do for the Physical Challenge, Meal Challenge and the research task so everyone was satisfied on which role they had for the tasks. By keeping everyone updated and communicating with on another outside of the allocated meeting times, all of the team members had a clearer understanding on which parts they would do. For the physical challenge, our team completed the 20, 000 step walk without much difficulty. However, we should have planned to complete the walk at another time of the day, preferably the late afternoon, or sometime when the weather was cooler as it was extremely hot at noon. We combatted this challenge by stopping regularly for water and snack breaks, and also to apply sunscreen. This helped us stay fresh, hydrated and motivated, and was another reason that contributed to our success of the task. As for the research task, we allocated the work by dividing the topic into subtopics, where three of the four team members would research and write about a certain aspect of the problem of gender inequality (social, political and economic) and the last member would talk about the solution. Under those categories, there was a further divide, so each team member wrote a total of two paragraphs about the topic they were assigned. Although we worked well as a team, checking in on each other and having fun especially for the in person activities, and we didn’t encounter any major problems when doing the task, we could have worked more efficiently and quickly if all members attended the group calls.
