As a postgraduate manager or engineer you’ll develop your project management skills including project planning and control methods within the project management process. What You’ll Do Studying in one of the most intense engineering and manufacturing areas in the UK, you’ll benefit from our new £35 million Engineering Innovation Centre (EIC). The course includes lots of opportunities for you to develop personal, interpersonal and project-personnel skills and ensure the modules you study are relevant to your work and interests. Module Overview Year 1 Compulsory modules BN4010: Project Planning, Control and Analysis BN4206: Risk and Value Management BN4410: Health and Safety Management BN4420: Quality and Environmental Management Systems BN4430: Project Team and Leadership Development BN4440: Strategic Project Management BN4609: Masters Dissertation BN4010: Project Planning, Control And Analysis This module is concerned with developing your planning, control and decision-making skills in the context of programming and execution of complex projects. BN4206: Risk And Value Management On this module you'll develop a co-ordinated professional approach to the assessment and management of risk. This will be in relation to construction engineering and management processes, building services systems and installations, fire safety, security and insurance. BN4410: Health And Safety Management The aim of this module is to consider the requirements and applications of health, welfare and safety legislation relevant to construction, engineering and associated industries. You'll develop your understanding of health and safety and the development of systems and cultures. This will be taught with an emphasis on human factors and continuous improvement processes. BN4420: Quality And Environmental Management Systems In this module you will investigates the issues of quality management for construction and related engineering organisations. You will explore issues of quality assurance standards, management procedures and cultural approaches. BN4430: Project Team And Leadership Development On this module, you'll evaluate the role of the Project Manager looking at the human aspects of project management. You'll develop requisite attributes and skills for the professional Project Manager. BN4440: Strategic Project Management During this module you'll develop your generic and sector-specific advanced project management skills required in the AEC and related supply chain business management remits. It'll provide a basis for critical thinking and analysis, cognisant of the three core drivers of: sustainable development, internationalisation, enterprise and employability. BN4609: Masters Dissertation You will be provided with the opportunity to develop and showcase your skills in independent research and produce a high standard dissertation, fit for publishing. You will be required to couple both academic research and investigation skills in order to study and reflect critically. He is research active in Fibre Reinforced Concrete Structures (Experimentation and Numerical Modelling). He also has a wide range of teaching expertise in civil engineering and construction technology, construction management and structural engineering. Learning And Assessment Throughout the course you’ll develop your knowledge and understanding through a series of lectures, tutorials, seminars and practical workshops. You’ll also study text books, research papers/journal articles and case study materials and be involved in assignments and project work. You’ll be assessed through written work, a research dissertation and oral presentations. Within each module the assessment methods are designed to contribute to your continuing development. Feedback is provided on a regular basis, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing periodic evaluations of progress. Pathway Opportunities The course opens up opportunities for doctoral studies, which some of our graduates have pursued to become academics/researchers. The course also paves the way for you to enrol as a student member of the Association for Project Management (APM) during your studies, leading to the professional status of Chartered Project Professional with APM.
