Chapter-2
Discussion
6
2.1 Online class: An online class is a course conducted over the Internet. They are generally
conducted through a learning management system, in which students can view their course
syllabus and academic progress, as well as communicate with fellow students and their course
instructor. In general, many online classes are self-paced, and students can choose the time slot
to study. In some cases, these classes also provide a particular schedule and the student is
required to be available in order to maximize their learning.
2.2 Pandemic: A Pandemic is an outbreak of infectious disease that occurs over a wide
geographical area and that is of high prevalence, generally affecting a significant proportion of
the world’s population, usually over the course of several months. Pandemics arise from
epidemics, which are outbreaks of disease confined to one part of the world, such as a single
country. Pandemic, especially those involving influenza, sometimes occur in waves, so that a
post pandemic phase, marked by decreased disease activity, may be followed by another period
of high disease prevalence. The World Health Organization (WHO) declares a pandemic when a
disease’s growth is exponential. This means the growth rate skyrockets, and each day cases
grow more than the day prior. In being declared a pandemic, the virus has nothing to do with
virology, population immunity, or disease severity. It means a virus covers a wide area, affecting
several countries and populations.
2.3 online classes and pandemic: From Jan-2020 onwards, lots of things have changed due to
the pandemic. Students have seen lots of changes all of a sudden. Lots of trauma is all around the
world. The virus is affecting the economy very badly. All the frontline workers and doctors are
putting their lives at stake for society and working day and night to end this pandemic. The virus
has brought new ways of learning. Students had to study the whole academic year online due to
the virus and spotted many pros and cons for learning from home. There was a sudden change
from traditional education to online education. Online classes have emerged as crucial in the
field of education. Not only is the education even the extracurricular activities being carried out
through the online medium only.

Conclusion
15
Conclusion:
We feel our self-fortunate to get chance of preparing a survey on the topic like
student’s perception about online classes during pandemic” the preparation of the
survey will help us a lot to augment my experience and knowledge. Though during
this short period of time is not enough to go through all the problem or matter and
gather adequate knowledge. After completing the survey, we can say that students
are mostly satisfied with their experience of online classes. Although there are
some problems remain with students about online classes. But ultimately, we can
see that online classes were very useful to students in this pandemic situation
