Yale University in the USA is one of the top universities in the world. Its history goes back over three
hundred years. At that time, the colony of Connecticut was trying to become more independent. However,
it didn’t have enough leaders or people who could govern. So, in 1701, Connecticut established Yale
School to train its political leaders. The school became Yale College in 1718 and then it changed its status
and its name to Yale University in 1887. Today, the university is entering its fourth century and its goals
are very different from those for three hundred years ago. Yale is now a truly global university and it
attracts students from many different countries. But this globalization of the university is not a new
phenomenon. Yale first received students from outside the Unites states nearly two centuries ago.
International issues are at the center of its curriculum and the universityis expanding its international
collaborations all the time.
