Early Life Sergeant Alvin York was born on the 13th of December, 1887 in Pall Mall Tennessee. He was born to William and Mary York of rural Pall Mall, Tennessee which he was their third child of 11 children. His family wasn’t very rich so he grew up in a small two-room cabin and had little education due to his need to help his father in “running the family”. Even though He didn’t have proper education, he gained the blacksmith skill. When his father died in 1911, he was obliged to help his Mother raise his younger siblings. To support his family, he began rail road construction in Harriman, Tennessee and proved himself to be a hard worker. Raise his younger siblings.
